If you are in the military. You should definitely look into the CBP or bureau of prisons when you get out instead of moving back to mommy’s house. It’s a great transition.

It's almost like putting politicians with little or no leadership imperatives in charge of things they don't understand is a bad idea. There is no reason an agency like CBP should have low morale. It is literally the first line of defense for this country and they are the unhappiest and no one seems to care.
@jamesmerone3 жыл бұрын
Politicians, instead of actually creating and passing policies to fix the crisis' at the border, they demonize Border Patrol. It's easy for them to do and they have a scapegoat for their failed policies.

It pains me, my father has been with the CBP for about 26 years now, not specifically going to say his position but he’s not just a border patrol agent. He doesn’t like the job, but it pays well and he’s amazing for sticking with it. I hope it gets better

Great content and videos. 1. Could you do a video for top 5 agencies in your opinion to work for in terms of fulfilment/ quality of life? 2. What agencies you would reccomend prior military with sof experience? I understand some like FBI have the tactical recruitment program (TRP) but most info is hard to come by. 3. Point system for recruitment veterans/none vets ie prior mil, combat deployments, etc Thanks

Could the border patrol lead into a bigger agency like the dea etc if you have the degree and the GPA

Definitely it could. I know many DEA agents who transferred from USBP.

Hello, I am a 17 years old junior in high school. I want to become a CI/ special agent. Acccording to my research, big investigative agencies such as fbi dont recommend Criminal Justice. What college degree do you think other than criminal justice might be useful for aspiring special agents ? Btw, I love you vids! Keep going!

I just did one on the FBI. kzbin.info/www/bejne/r3_cfYSVptV1i8k. With regard to the Bureau, they have a definite type of applicant they are looking for. If you have a technical or scientific aptitude, I would pursue a degree in those areas. I do not have any abilities in science or any technical area, so criminal justice is what I went for. Certainly criminal justice will not hurt, but some other areas will make your application more competitive.

I'm going to slightly disagree. These numbers are misleading for the reason you mentioned that this survey combines Border Patrol and the Customs and Border Protection. I just joined CBP and couldn't be happier with my job. Most of the dissatisfaction comes from the border patrol side of the house. We have many agents leaving BP and joining us at CBP. Our salaries are very good, with maximum overtime of$45k/year. The benefits, the retirement to name a few. With CBP the opportunities are endless. One of the few federal jobs where you can work at desired locations overseas with generous allowances toward living expenses, on average they pay about $4500/month to rent a house plus up to $30k / year for schools for each child and so much more PS I love your channel
@federallawenforcementcaree99003 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I thought it was most likely BP but the survey didnt separate the two agencies.

I’m not sure how long you’ve been with CBP? It’s possible you lucked out and got a relaxed interior port? I have friends with CBP and I was a BPA up until a few months ago. Majority of my friends don’t enjoy CBP due to forced OT and location. I’m assuming you’re not as San Ysidro or one of the major ports. I saw many people go from CBP to BP due to CBP not being a “traditional” LE job. It is a good gig but the majority of it is not “real” LE. You won’t be getting into pursuits or making traffic stops or making many arrests. It really only became an “LEO” gig after 9/11. If someone goes from BP to CBP it is almost always due to getting back home or to a better location. I worked with CBP a few times as a PA. It’s a good gig for what it is, but it’s an extremely boring job. I still recommend it and actually encouraged my wife to apply. Be safe and God bless.

@@chillnick1865 thank you!! Ya I'm on the northern border, we have a busy port of entry passenger and cargo. I agree it's not as a true LE like BP but I prefer to talk to the people rather than chasing them in the desert by myself lol maybe because I'm not in my 20's anymore. I understand there are forced overtime but they'll pay good money for it so I'll take it anytime.
@chillnick18653 жыл бұрын
@@charby Yah, totally understandable. Definitely a good job for what it is. I had plenty of time sitting and staring at the wall with BP lol. Sometimes I actually envied CBP cause that desert can get real lonely and spooky during a long night! Overall, I’m glad I did BP over CBP, but I came in as a teenager and wanted action. Congrats on finding a career you enjoy and never take it for granted!

I think most people can't 'cooperate' with the government agency they see as morally reprehensible. I think that's why we see them being restricted and etc. I mean, can you blame someone for dislike ICE, and so they vote a certain way? If we blame them, and they blame us, then we've not moved an inch.
