This song brings tears to my eyes every time. My husband stayed when my mental health was so severe I begged him to leave. I’ve been in so many hospitals I felt it wasn’t right for anyone to go through it with me. So if anyone knows what this song is about please say a prayer for anyone going through this. It’s been 5 years now since I was found hanging myself in a closet. Please have patience with anyone that has mental health problems. One the references I believe, is that the singer suffers from Bipolar (so do I), and this is in relation to his relationships with family and stuff I relate this song, to my parents. As they broke up My father also has Bipolar, and schizophrenia. He and my mother were going through a bad time, and ultimately chose to end it. But we're all in so much better spaces, and time has healed some wounds

He simply wants every man in America (that has a kid(s)) to know that the story he is telling through this album can be the story of thier life. Hence the name "Any Man In America". Justin doesnt write his music for sympathy from others. His music is his story and he wants others to know that they aren't alone. That bad $h!t happens to good people. And I think he is gorgeous. And even more beautiful on the inside.

Most of his songs are about personal experiences.. Black Orchid was written by him at age 14, as a confession to his mother that he had been considering the act of committing suicide. James is about how much he was bullied as a child. Bleed Out was about the pain he put his wife through. I love Blue October for these reasons, aside from sounding amazing, it's so personal and honest.. But I guess it has to do with the fact that these songs weren't written to just make a song to sell, but just through him, for him.
