I just left a message on your other video. YES!!! you bought a Series 3 1980 just like me...awesome! I'm more excited than ever now.. Mine is also a diesel with left hand steering. Since I'm 71, I decided to at least put power steering in it as they are rebuilding. Wish I could send you pictures. I have two more months to wait. Happy driving and convincing me I made the right decision. Mine is also a Santana with a Safari top that we will take off. It was used on an oliver farmer.

Thank you for your comment Cecilia! Also read the other comment. Great to find soul mates in loving these cars😊 we are so happy having it. The reaction from people are always so super positive and our little town feels like a holiday resort when we drive around with "Saffe". It's funny how it is so primitive to drive and at the same time so much fun. Please send me a picture of yours if you want when you get it: klaus@peoples.fi Cheers, Klaus

Loved the stickers! Where did you get them from if don’t mind me asking?
@fromfinlandwithlove5276 Жыл бұрын
Not at all! I'm a graphic designer and I made them myself. Designed them to look like worn-out, old paper luggage/travel stickers, but they are actually printed on weather proof plastic material.

Congratulations and happy driving. I leant to drive in one back in the 60’s and had a Discovery 3 when they first came out and now have a 2009 90 which I love but only use rarely. If I lived in a rural village where I didn’t need to do any high speed long distance driving I’d never own any other car for the rest of my life.

Thank you Rob! We have had the Disco 2, the last of the older generations. We loved that car. Very happy with the Seris Now as a contrast to our "boring" Disco 4😁

Happy driving! I owned a Series 3 for a few years, and loved it a lot. Sadly, I had to sell it and buy a modern car when I changed job, and needed to drive a longer distance each day. Take good care of that Landy and have fun with it!

I have just picked up a 1973 short wheelbase Landrover and same colour as yours in very good condition with the genuine licence plates ( JAMESBOND). I have had many Landies including new Defenders in the past but this is the best so far. I am very aware these are slow ,leak oil, noisy but I am so attracted to these most iconic Landies,and for this model to be in the latest James bond movie it attract alot of attention.People definately look twice at the plates including the police but laugh when they check their for real. 😊😊

That is such a great car. I would love to buy one as they are such an icon of the Western side of the Cold War and British engineering. They are so expensive Down Under. Long may it stay with you!
@fromfinlandwithlove52762 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Are they just hard to find there, or are there some special regulations or taxations on this kind of a car that makes them so expensive?
@brendanhaley36682 жыл бұрын
@@fromfinlandwithlove5276 they are hard to find as it is a land where we can 4x4 all year round. They also hold their value really well. Here if a vehicle is more than 30 years old it is cheaper to register it on the road than a new car.
@Jabberstax2 жыл бұрын
They're becoming rarer and more expensive in the UK as well.

well done ,thanks for sharing , the enjoyment of slowing down and experiencing driving like this is like riding an old motorcycle , its by the seat of your pants ,driving my old vehicles it was pointed out to me ,,no seatbelts , then i thought ,well how often do you have a huge collision or a roll over , in my case ,actually never in 40 yrs of driving , now you need a '45 wla harley or 40's knucklehead harley , cheers big ears from down under

First of all, LAND ROVERS DON'T LEAK OIL. THEY'RE MARKING THEIR TERRITORY!!! They're like driving a farm tractor with a car body on it.❤❤❤❤❤

Nice truck, i have 2a from 1967, and i love your jacket, wich brand is it.
@fromfinlandwithlove52762 жыл бұрын
Cool! Thank you : ) The jacket... it's actually a flea market find, an unused army jacket. It has no markings so I don't know anything about it, but I like it. The fabric is very tightly woven and tho collar is thick, which is nice since the draft usually blows from the back when driving with and open car.

Is this vehicle fitted with free wheeling hubs, if so you will have to engage them before you get four wheel drive.
@fromfinlandwithlove52762 жыл бұрын
Good point👍Yeah it is. I forgot to mention that. In the winter, we mostly had four wheel drive on and front wheels locked.
@spellbinder1012 жыл бұрын
@@fromfinlandwithlove5276 all you need now is a overdrive unit fitted to the back of your gearbox and you’ll have a ton of gear ratios in two and four wheel drive, have fun working out how many there are.
@chriswalker42722 жыл бұрын
They're an adventure every journey. Contemporary cars disconnect you from the feeling of what's going on, so you lose the visceral experience of driving, theyre almost too good and every journey forgettable. But these old leafers are so much more of a fun challenge to drive, giving feedback by the bucket load, complete with all the bangs and rattles. I just love driving mine, especially off road in my woodland, to work with nature restoring woodland and the natural habitat. It's an extremely practical work horse too. No namby pamby plastic bits breaking all the time when all the tools and stuff is chucked in. Your car looks lovely, I hope you get many years use and pleasure out of her. Have you named her yet? I call my 1975 S3 Gigi.
@fromfinlandwithlove52762 жыл бұрын
My wife has named "her" Safari, also known as Saffe : D. Yes, totally agree. We have been driving around on small sand roads, exploring the surroundings. With a this car low speed feels great, and as you say, every journey becomes an adventure. Happy to hear that you are having fun with your car too. We are also doing a lot of practical stuff with it, not having to be scared of the car getting a few scratches. When we go and buy. stuff from local farmers and little markets, I love just lifting the stuff on the floor in the back of the car. Feels like country life : )
