Cheers Tom and Merry Christmas! Few things I've picked up since doing a few of these: 1. Purge your transfer line of starsan and air too. 2. Careful putting spunding valve on outpost as if keg over fills you get beer in the spunding valve which can stuff it. 3. You can transfer with the gas out of the keg going into the gas in of the fermentasaurus (balanced transfer). Start with vessels the same pressure all connected (beer to beer, gas to gas). Release pressure on keg and that will start transfer. As gas is pushed out the keg, it's returned to fermenter.

Stass Brewing thanks for this mate. When you say release the pressure from the keg to start the flow do you mean just pull on the release valve on the keg for a second?

Fill a keg with water and weigh it ... then while filling it like that place it on a scale and you'll jknow exactly when its close to full ?

Fucking genious, i was thinking of making a mark on the snubnose but then figured that if the trub is massive then what. Or if u brew a smaller batch.

You have to also account for the beer's gravity, which makes it heavier than plain water. If 19L of water weighs 19 kg for example, 19L of a 1.012 beer would weigh about 19.23 kg. Multiply the water weight times the FG. Add this to the tare (empty) weight of the keg and voila.

Or even simpler, cold crash the FV, then when filling the keg, you’ll see a ring of condensation forming on the keg. But seeing as I’m late to the discussion, you’ve probably already worked that out.

I have really enjoyed following your equipment builds but often you have used a marker pen or similar and it is not as neat as it could be. Some time ago I discovered the Brother P-Touch H101GB label maker which has proved very useful in my life. You get cartridges that offer a range of foreground/background colours and more than just alphanumeric characters. I use it all the time to mark microwave boxes containing food for the freezer and even more useful details of seeds in plastic cups and seed trays. The down side is the oem cartridges are expensive but I found some complete label makers containing a cartridge were cheaper at auction than buying a new cartridge! Later I discovered that there exist non oem cartridges at a fraction the price. Regards Mike

Merry Christmas, Tom! When are you planning to pack up Pinfold and transfer to the new location? (Inquiring minds want to know how the new homesite is coming along!) The Vacant turned out nice...Cheers to all...JC

Merry Christmas! Did you target a beer Smith water profile for this? Harry burtonises his water but when I look at the numbers I'm scared of how minerally it is!

it needs more carbonation imo

Nice video but would have appreciated a proper instructional video rather than you sniffing beer for 5 minutes and creaming your pants.
