Mick, it is not as simple as you think. You keep saying that they will be the best team if the Fever does this or does that. You have to consider other teams will draft and make trades as well. There is no guarantee that Fever will be the best team.

If she took her best defensive players and played them, you'd be complaining why isn't CC playing. Fever only know one end of the court. The offensive end! Can't rely on out scoring your opponent every game. That formula never won a chip. Got to play some D every once in awhile

Then act like she hasn’t done ANYTHING to get a foul.

Dallas depends on what Satou Sabally wants to do. If she stays, they'll maybe try to trade for a better team. If she's going, then they'll trade her for better options: Smith and Wallace. This would make more sense for both teams. There is no other team out there that can offer a player like Smith as a trade piece for Satou--and take back salary cap restrictions. So, there just isn't a better "trade" out there for Satou Sabally than Indiana Fever's options. Liberty can't afford to even add Satou's contract without trading one of their other starters to get the deal done. Breanna, Jonquel, Sabrina, and Laney all make way too much money for the team. Adding a "core" Satou Contract with the other 4 players gives them well over 1.1 million in cap hits, so they only have like 400k to fill out the remaining 7 players. They simply won't have enough money to complete a team because of this "trade" attempt. Satou to either LA or IND is the only remarkable "trade" option given that those two locations are her destinations anyway. It would make more sense for the Dallas Wings to get an upgrade at the 4 and add a wing player (IND) than to trade with the team that has literally the worst roster as a whole, LA. Concerning Washington, the only player they would likely look to move is Sykes since she's basically been overrated at her position and they would need to upgrade her for a better player. They have the options available though. Austin and Atkins are very capable roster spots, so they would not dare trade them unless it was a huge offer, which no team really wants to invest so much on a 1 year rental given that Atkins is free to choose any other team come the 26 off season. Lastly, Atkins is not a big, nor does it solve the issues that the Fever have: a lack of a productive power forward to prevent the opposing power forward from dropping near 30 PPG on them every other night. Guards haven't really been an issue for the Fever since they have the most potent back-court in the WNBA, so they need to figure out how to get a capable power forward that doesn't give up a season high every other night.

Mick, why would we trade for another guard when we need a power forward. If hull plays a full season like she played after the Olympic break she would be one of the top wings in the W. If Mitchell does not want to play in Indiana we should trade her for the number 3 pick and get Molonga. Then fill in with true Free agents like Kelsey Plum, Bri Jones, Janelle Salaun or Jessica Shepherd. With a starting 5 of CC, Plum, Hull, Bri and Boston backed up by Salaun and Shepherd we would be a contender. Then in 26 we add in Molonga, move Hull to shooting guard and Salaun to wing and we are unstoppable.

Dude the Fever definitely needs some size and strength to compete with those Vegas or Liberty teams. You can just have only Boston to guard Aja, Joncquel, Stewie and Phee of this world ! They already lost Temi how the heck do you think they will lock the paint ? Otherwise sure another lock down D guard would be nice but I'm not sure it is Fever priority atm.

Mitchell has expressed over and over her willingness to explore free agency, so this scenario could easily happen. Myself, I think the Fever should be actively exploring *their* options with Mitchell, and for once I agree with Mick in one of his whacky videos that Ariel Atkins would be a great addition to the team, but only if she's taking over for Mitchell. There is no point of her being signed to take Hull's spot, they need the size and defense at one of the guard positions.

Ariel Atkins is tough great player. I don't see fever looking for guards unless it's a 1 year deal. First priority is a power forward or a center. I wouldn't be surprised if Smith comes back. We'll see how the fever organization roll January 20 going into the season. IZZY Harrison I would get. Ariel is not a good move as far as money wise or position needs.

Hypothetical 3 way trade Fever get their defensive stopper, Ariel Atkins. Atkins gets a nice raise as a new max contract player. She has a more impressive career resume than Mitchell in my opinion and deserves it. Plus she's younger than Mitchell. Mystics get Chennedy Carter as a 1 year rental, perfect for tanking for that 2026 #1 pick Sky get Kelsey Mitchell, a great replacement for Carter who has said she won't be returning. Mitchell gets her change of scenery she's been dropping hints about all year long.
