To be fair, SF6 will only be 2 months old at evo, so the players having 1-2 weeks to learn a new matchup isn't too bad IMO.

relatively speaking it definitely could be worse

Everyone has the same version of the game, the same characters & everyone has the same 24 hours in each day leading up to EVO. It's up to the player to make the most of that time & prep. That means labbing, researching, fighting other Rashids, playing as Rashid. Even if it were on the SAME DAY as evo, i'd expect everyone to cram like it's the hour before an exam outside the exam hall. It also just creates a really unique, time-sensitive set of circumstances which is FUN and COOL! Would make for interesting spectating too.

As a spectator, I agree with that. As a competitor, its not possible to have competitive integrity and do something like that. There are strategies in games that appear literally unbeatable hour/day/month 1 that get figured out and countered later. If someone is doing something that seemingly has no answer, it is going to cheese people out and the "best" person wouldn't win.

@@flowchartkenYTbut at the same time, if the goal is ONLY to win, and Rashid ends up being the unbeatable character. It is also the players choice to choose him. But this would lead to spectators not enjoying the game with 6 Rashid in finals

@@flowchartkenYT true. That’s bad for the game in general, ignoring the competitive side altogether. If they release something broken then there’s more than a single competition at stake, it could turn all players away until they fix it. Players that might not come back at all. The real reason this competition exists is to drive more sales £££… if their product is fucked up on the big stage that would look terrible for them, it’s in their best interest to not release a broken product. But either way, all characters in sf6 feel balanced atm. I trust their play-testing is thorough & feel that they won’t artificially boost character power to generate hype.

No game is completely balanced...we would not have tier lists if they were.

Not everyone has the same 24 hours in each day leading up to EVO. Someone can be in transit for 40 hours, jet lagged and with a bad hotel wifi the few days before EVO while the other competitor could be a local. I'm not saying allowing Rashid is wrong but there has to be a limit.

I don't relatively think that Rashid will win EVO considering for the past month looking at other top tier characters and players who could also be as if not much unbalance as he is. Not to mentioned the consideration of players that would be in EVO this year, I'm no gambling man but if I were to put money down on who is gonna win at Street Fighter 6 it would be either MenaRD or Chris T that is if they are competing in it anyways.

Thanks! I'm not opposed to it actually, I think it just comes down to finding something I have more to say about. When I write scripts I try to make them as concise as possible because I don't like fluffing out videos. So id just need to find something I have a lot more to say on the topic lol

My only problem with patches is the devs pretending to be ignorant of whats broken and taking too long to "fix" it. It makes them look incompetent. I understand the marketing behind it but if the majority of your consumers dont like an aspect of your game that that can be changed easily, FIX THAT SH- ASAP.

Rashid is gonna have an infinite found one day before EVO - it'll be patched out - but then someone overlooked something about the damage scaling of the move and now it results in TOD combos 😭

It's technically fair in terms of everyone's playing the same game. Of course this would be the same case whether there's the patch or not. But imagine if in the FIFA World Cup semifinals the match commissioner decided the 22 players were now lining up to play American football instead. While it's impossible for Capcom to schedule patches around _every_ tournament they should have planned better this time around. Sure they want to build up the hype leading up to the thing but they don't want the 7k+ entrants feeling like they've entered a mystery game tournament either. A bunch of salty players smashing equipment on stage isn't good for SF6's image either and the twitter vomit is going to tarnish the reputation of the guy who'd otherwise have been a well-loved playable character.

I think its more about how fighting games work. IMO it is easier to learn a character than it is to learn how play against a character in many cases, especially the more difficult the characters moves are to interpret. Honda is a great example of this. People who do not want to play Rashid may be at a disadvantage if he ends up being extremely strong, and it will be hard to tell how strong he is before the tournament begins.
@general0mega
@general0mega Жыл бұрын
@@flowchartkenYT personally I'd rather be on the other side playing a character I know against a new one; but regardless I still agree. Honda, also Blanka, and for a surprising number of SF players early on JP as well, are all packed full of knowledge checks and any matchups against them need that experience. Could be the same reason Potemkin occasionally wins a Strive tournament, could be Rashid is just busted or just weird to fight against, I really don't think it's fair for the players or good for the game's image. Maybe this is Capcom's way of guaranteeing they sell 7000 copies of the season pass.
