During this presentation, Jonathan Westall, VP of Ancillary Services at MLK Community Health, discusses the health disparities faced by residents of historically under-resourced South Los Angeles, from the Watts Riots that led to the formation of the original MLK Hospital to its eventual closure and the reimagining of MLK Community Health.
He talks about how the work of addressing healthcare inequality is moving from inside the hospital walls to outside, with a new focus on population health and changing the whole mindset of the community.
