As regards the “lawyer” who stated that Canadian Supreme Court also can invalidate legislation based on a “reasonable” test the Law Society should re-examine his fitness to practice. The SCC certainly issues questionable decisions from time to time and it may well do so on a subjective basis it certainly will not and cannot say so explicitly but has to justify its decisions on the basis of a constitutional provision.

Very interesting but Caroline missed a few facts: think about this, as Israel had a right wing government under Netanyahu since 2009.. and why wasn’t a reform of the law past then? Simple, because there were no lawsuits against him until recently.. Deri, the minister that had to resign was convicted and jailed for misconduct.. so the supreme court ruled he does not have A right to become a minister. do you know any other country that will allow a politician serving jail time to be a minister? Yes, Israel needs a reform in its Judicial structure of the Supreme Court. It does need a constitution. What’s happening now is what should have happen when Israel declared its independent in 1948 and write a constitution. Now, this is the battle of the constitution. On a side note: when you say the “radical left” .. who are you referring to? All sides love israel in different ways. Asking to have equal rights does not mean you are not a Zionist. It’s just like Trump saying the left is not loyal to America or Judaism.. these words divide us, and not unite us. Caroline should be careful on the word she chooses.. because there is no other AIPAC or pro Israel groups like the ones in the US and Canada,, and yes, Left and right support Israel.
