Great video! My grandfather was in the 101st and part of the Battle of the Bulge. But that cat in the background steals the show. Love that kitty!

The Pathfinders are no joke. Only around 100 - 400 did it, and they had like a 80% casualty rate. Apparently when McNiece was offered a position, he thought the military was trying to kill him 😂

1. Down at the roadblock, we’ve just begun. 2. The guards are through. 3. The Major’s men are on a spree. 4. Major and Wladislaw go through the door. 5. Pinkley stays out in the drive. 6. The Major gives the rope a fix. 7. Wladislaw throws the hook to Heaven. 8. Jimenez has got a date. 9. The other guys go up the line. 10. Sawyer and Gilpin are in the pen. 11. Posey guards points five and seven. 12. Wladislaw and the Major go down to delve. 13. Franko goes up without being seen. 14. Zero hour, and, Jimenez cuts the cable, Franko cuts the phone. 15. Franko goes in where the others have been. 16. We all come out like it’s Halloween.

Great video once again! Hearing this story made me realise it might have inspired another book (besides 'The Dirty Dozen'). Namely 'Biggles - Spitfire Parade', in it lead character Biggles, a highly decorated RAF pilot, is given the command of a squadron of pilots who lack discipline, despise authority and/or are just a bit nuts. But given a job to do, come hell or high water, they are going to see it through. It's one of my favourite books.

There’s a great newsreel that clips from are shown a lot in documentaries about WWII and especially Dday. Great video of them with Ike, their Mohawks and war paint on. I always thought it the Germans saw them like that without helmets a 2:06 the boys charged the Jerries hootin n hollerin like Indians in a John Wayne movie those Germans would turn tail and run like hell! Thanks to you and Radu for a great tale and sett😊the record straight! Happy Holidays everyone!

Pretty sure The Fat Electrician already covered this. No offense, but once you’ve seen him cover something, you know all there is to know bout it.

But how many millions of people have never heard of “the Fat Electrician”? Don’t get me wrong I think he’s great. I had never heard of Eugene Bullard until he did his video. I just think the more people who talk about history the better for society.

@ I was just speaking for myself, once I’ve heard him cover something, the way he does it makes me beyond interested no matter what the subject was. I usually find myself on a search engine trying to learn anything he may have missed or didn’t expand on enough for me.

I don't buy most things that they say. I find it hard to believe it. In war soldiers are cannon fodder, they created this aura and lied about stuff. Maybe some things happened, and people started talking about them, and they seized the opportunity and created more false stories to make the most of that aura. That's my theory anyway. I really don't buy their own accounts...
@mikealexander185921 күн бұрын
It’s healthy to be skeptical. But reality is stranger than fiction and much of these stories are well corroborated and track with historical events. Turns out people are capable of amazing things.
