Fun fact: Julius' survival was revealed in the manga 3 days after his death in the anime, leading many to compare him to Jesus.

I felt like the story aspect of Black Clover is often overlooked...the lore, the reveals, the plot twists, and the way everything connected at the end really impressed me, and this is something I feel a lot of shounen lacks (at least from the ones I've seen). For me personally I prioritize story over other areas like characters, fights, etc which I find other shounens tend to focus on, and hence is why Black Clover appealed to me more than other shounens did

@@KevinVideo A lot of people will parrot other people's talking points. Black Clover got a lot of shit in the beginning, 'cause Gigguk memed the hell out of the anime at first, particularly complaining about Asta's yelling. Problem was, when Gigguk made a video later saying "no, wait, I take it back, this show's actually amazing", nobody really cared because it was the cool thing to hate on the show. I legit feel like that's why BC took forever and is hitting its stride now to get popular while MHA and JJK and Demon Slayer all peaked a while ago. Black Clover is taking off like a storm the past few months while everyone's already burning out from MHA (particularly manga readers, or at least the ones I know), Demon Slayer is finished, so on and so forth. To be fair, it doesn't help that the show does lean into the shonen tropes pretty heavily in the beginning to almost give the wrong vibe. I always jokingly say "Black Clover is the kind of show that's a total love letter to the old shonen shows we grew up with. It takes out the crap we don't care about, knows why we're here, and spoon feeds it to us". Handsome, dark-haired rival? Check. Goofy ahh MC with a heart of gold and a resolve of steel? Check. Diverse cast of characters to help balance out the MC's relatively static personality? Check. Amazingly animated fight scenes to get us beyond hype? Check. But, BC went above and beyond. The plot twists. The way it seemed to present Elves vs. Humans and a small nagging feeling of "this doesn't feel right" sits with you, until the devil reveal. The fact all the female characters are actually well-written and aren't just Sakura/Ino/Ochaco/Yaomomo (sorry, she's my fave but I'm calling her out)/etc. It's amazing. Can't wait for these reactions (on YT) to get current.

@@ultrahotwings9738 Definitely much more depth to storyline than most Shonen anime. And the fact they actually make the female characters worth rooting for is a strong point. I love Noelle, but I have to give props to Charmy as a sleeper. She turned into a beast in the battle against the possessed Rill.

@@royrobinson9212 Oh yeah, definitely. BC's female cast is both varied and solid! What makes them great too is how they START off feeling like generic archetypes of tropes, but they all get a chance to gain depth.. just as how sometimes we meet a stranger IRL and we kinda try to put them into a box at first so we know how to interact with them.. and then fix that perception slowly as we get to know that person behind the surface. I never understood why it's so hard to write female characters, TBH. Having been an RPer/writer for.. oh... oh god... ... *sigh* over twenty years.. never really calculated that until today god I feel old. RIP Proboards and phpBB paraRP boards. But, having written and RPed for that long, I've always thought writing female characters was a LOT easier. I've never been able to fathom why most most writers never get it right. Even more fun is writing villainesses.. heck, my signature RP character was a plasma gun totin' brawler female villain who carried a katana for aesthetic reasons. Male characters... they're just plain harder for me to write, lmao.

@ultrahotwings9738 I play AI games on an app and gravitated towards a "harem scenario" and turned it into one hell of an adventure story where my lieutenant is a neko kunoichi (I picked her appearance, the AI picked career) and a badass white haired elven archer. Somehow, I'm keeping it off of getting R rated, which is fun. I understand the want to make female characters. It's easy to make a generic, strong guy character. I'm keeping my character grounded (wields dual swords, simple magic) and letting the female characters develop.

I loved how Asta's devil called the our antagonist a loser. I can't wait for you guys to catch up and get that story thread. Yami will forever be an amazing character. It's unfortunate that the anime won't be back for another 1-2 years because there's so much story to catch up on.

119 is such an iconic episode. So many individual storylines and growths coming together for an epic attack. Yami gets to start "Haruka Mirai" (1st opening) up and even Nero, who's seen Asta's growth since the beginning, believes in him. Yuno is always poking fun at Asta, but he knows it pushes Asta to surpass his limits.

Bro it's so annoying when people say "It's called Plot Armour" when talkin about Yuno when BOTH these kids got insane plot armours. Like both train like crazy, both are downright genius. In fact, if I had to compare things Asta's devil and Yuno's elf inside him right now are very similar in terms of giving them buffs.

Yuno got a powerup and motivated asta they were like "f you too much plot armor". Asta immediately then gets a powerup "hell yeah, very good" 😂

@@abdallahzubairu yeah people are so annoying about characters. Like Asta is the main character, so we only see his side, doesn't mean the writing for Yuno is bad or he has plot armor. The FIRST THING we know about Yuno is that he is a genius (and Asta is one too, just differently)

Hi guys, I don't know where you are on Patreon (probably at episode 130) but I would like to advise you not to skip certain fillers especially episode 151, and episodes 153-157 which are "anime canon" and add a little more detail before the time skip

THIS. I know people tend to speak fillers, but BC fillers feel like real impactful arcs. I watched that knowing it was a filler and thought "ain't no way I would've guessed this is not cannon if i didn't know".

Exactly. In the early episodes it sounded like he lived for a while as the Wizard King. We found out that wantthe case.

The reason "Dark magic" works on devils was explained earlier on, same as Licht and Lumiere. Dark magic is magic closely related to the underworld as you can imagine by the name, and thus it affects beings from that realm. Licht and Lumiere came in contact with the underworld on the other hand through magic stones / that attack that Lumiere absorbed, which made their bodies adapted to underworld magic. So basically Yami has underworld / devil realm related magic (don't worry this is not a spoiler, even in the manga nobody knows how tf or why he has dark magic)

I guess his family has it genetically or smth, and unfortunately he didn't get isekai'd he's from same world just diff continent as was explained. He was a fisherman and stumbled upon clover kingdom by accident

Since the series is on an indefinite hiatus I would recommend just watching all of what we have since it might never come back given the author's health as well😢
