@0:26-0:33 You see right here. That’s REAL WING CHUN! Ip man moving forward, intercepting, simultaneously attacking and defending, followed up with a swift punch to the solar plexus of the general before the kick. The entire fight is stylised but that moment demonstrates CLEAN Wing Chun. Excellent use of chi-sau, centre line, technique with the fist. There are these moments throughout the franchise where IP man demonstrates actual wing chun as opposed to techniques used for gratification. Real wing chun is not standing still like a dummy, waiting for your opponent to attack. Real wing chun is feeling the energy, flowing with it deflecting the energy by moving forward, closing the distance, attacking the centre line. The shortest distance between two points is a straight line. This is the philosophy and fundamental core principle of wing chun. This moment flawlessly encapsulates the concept of wing chun.

One thing about "Ip man" is he fights Fair , until you Do a dirty move- then he ready to poke your eye out😂
@jiawei9022 Жыл бұрын
Don't think many realised this but this fight actually mirrors the previous fight with the Master Wan. During the previous fight, when Master Wan realised that Ip Mann has been injured, he actually showed his grace and level the playing field by only using one hand. In contrast, the fight with the sergeant, when he realised this, he not only didn't do what Master Wan did but he even exploited Ip Mann injury. But what's even more interesting, is that when Ip Mann partially incapacitated the sergeant by injuring his eyes, you will notice there are a few short moves that Ip Mann actually gave the sergeant a chance by only using one hand to fight (and showing his grace by levelling the playing field). But the sergeant still went with full force on Ip Mann, thus angering him to deliver the crushing blows in the end. Mind you, Ip Mann rarely goes full force in any of his previous fights (save for the first Ip Mann movie with the Japanese Black Belts for killing his friend). It's very interesting how they told a story through this fight showing layers to this movie.

And then following that there's been a few times again where he shows it but never uses it (even against the karate master in this movie).....
