Skeleton keys are real, but they're a thing for the warded locks of yesteryear (you know that "key" shape that no modern keys have? that's generally a warded lock key), and not the pin-and-tumbler locks that are commonplace today. Because of the way warded locks work, it's entirely up to the *key* to deny the *lock* access, by having an extra bit of metal that hits a matching bit of metal in the lock to stop the key from turning. If you just don't have any of those extra bits of metal on your key, whoops now you can open any door that uses the same basic key dimensions. With decent modern pin-and-tumbler locks, a similarly blank key doesn't help you at all, since the pins need to actually be at *exactly* the right height. There are exceptions, though (see "overlifting").

I laughed SO, SO hard at this one. The protagonist is SUCH a piece of shit, in a way that you made endlessly hilarious. Honestly, full chest laughs. This was so good, and by good, I mean terrible. I loved it. ❤️

I'm all over this. Also apparently it takes place in my hometown!! EDIT! It slanders my hometown. Even in the 70s there were plenty of good Mexican places.

Adam's "I can't breathe laugh" is one of my favorite things in the world. I lovingly call it "The Gorilla Laugh," but I really hope he doesn't get self-conscious about it.

This was amazing! Hope to see you return to this one again some time. So great from a "laughing together at this awful book and main character" angle

2:34:52 NOTAM ("know-tam") stands for Notice to Airmen. It's an FAA-issued alert that lets pilots know important temporary info for flying through an area, like military activity, airspace closures, broken warning lights, whatever.

I love how Sebastian is meant to be a James Bond-esque character and he fails so, so hard at it. To the point that it feels like a parody of James Bond: Sebastian has all the surface-level stuff but none of the charm or humanity of the Fleming character, or the Brosnan character, or even the Connery character, and Connery played bond as a psychopath!
