Ten characters, ten dramatic stories, ten extraordinary days, all leading to one historic event: the end of the greatest war the world has ever known. Combining large-scale reconstructions with traditional documentary storytelling to evoke the climactic last moments of the Second World War.
Their diaries, letters and interviews provide unique insight into the dramatic events of some of the most gripping and terrifying days in history. For these individuals, as for millions of others, the German surrender on 8th May 1945 marks the end of everything that has consumed their lives for six long years.

The few things that deeply get to me, to make me lose it is how the those concentration camp victims were treated. To just kill at will another human being, or to starve an entire population just is so evil and dark. So many got away free, such a shame.

It can only happen when you dehumanize the 'others' so that they are no longer a person. Every abhorrent act, even in the case of 'acceptable' wartime actions is made possible by turning the opposition into things. I believe that most people are good, or at least not evil and this mechanism is needed for them to rationalize what they do for their own sanity. That is why it is so important to watch for this in everyday life. People become scapegoats by converting them to 'vermin' or 'illegals' which don't suffer. They don't have a life story, are not parents, children or siblings. They are not trying to survive, they are here to 'steal your cookie' (google that phrase for the meme). Inhuman things can be treated inhumanely without guilt. After the deeds are done, the manipulators slip quietly into the background and use whatever power they gained to avoid accountability while the actual perpetrators look at their hands and wonder how they could have done such a thing. It has happened over and over, it is happening now, and it will happen again because people just won't learn.

The thing that gets me is how easily the germans started it, accepted it, even applauded it, but when things went really bad for them, they all denied involvement & even knowledge. And they complained about the russians mistreating them. And, they did not want to be on the russian side. Even if some germans were innocent, they were still part of the society that did all this, which made them guiltier than all those victims killed, tortured, and displaced & all the allied soldiers that were killed, wounded, and pulled from their private lives.

Not to say it was right but the Germans had done as worse to the Russians first and it seemed more like a revenge thing for the Russians . Sad that civilians had to be in the mix and take what was given to them on either side. But that is war after all.

Seeing the scene where the Russian troops barged into their apartment and started terrorizing them makes you sick to your stomach instinctively but than you have to remember that the Germans did the same exact thing to the Russians in the beginning in 1941 and 1942 when they first invaded Russia and you than see an eye for an eye. This same family was probably celebrating the German invasion in 1941 being so arrogant that their country was superior to all the others and not even thinking twice that those atrocities and horrors they perpetrated would one day be unleashed and inflicted upon them.

The soldiers were human beings too they weren't animals, wether or not they enjoyed it. Most times animals only kill for food or as a gift to their alphas, still food usually, or protection as the Germans felt they were doing just like any nation who feels in danger. The way the man talks about the soldiers is how they felt about the jews, it's wrong for them but it's right when he does it about the German soldiers?

While I have sympathy for the suffering of the German civilians I cannot and will not condemn the Russian soldiers. They had all this and more inflicted on them and their families during the German invasion of the USSR. You cannot reasonably ask someone to endure and witness all that and then show mercy whern you have the chance to make your enemy suffer as you were made to suffer.

If you go back to the book of Genesis, you'll notice that there are two trees. One, is the "tree of life" , the other is the "tree of knowledge and good and evil" . God gave Adam and Eve, a choice. Eve chose to eat of the knowledge of good and evil. God has always been pro-choice and allows people to make decisions. But every decision has a consequence. And this war is a graphic expression of it.

Montgomery, along with Tedder and Ramsay (all Brits), planned and executed Operation Overlord, poppet. Montgomery (and Bradley - I think) planned and executed Operation Varsity; the major Rhine Crossing. Montgomery took the military surrender of the German armed forces on Luneberg Heath. Montgomery halted the German advance on the oilfields of the Middle East at El Alamein… There’s also the defeat of Rommel -whom Patton never faced - In Tunisia. Then there’s Operation Husky, the liberation of Belgium and Holland… Montgomery was not perfect by any means. But he was no moron. It’s ok to be ignorant, poppet, but unwise to advertise it. Best wishes.

He saw some twerp with a rediculous moustache. He pulled the guy close and yelled “Welcome to DIE💀💀💀☠️☠️☠️!!!” And the scrawny worm got on his knees. He was brought to a secret place where churchill and stalin drank vodka and watched him die a very slow death at the end of a noose.
