The ship is The Royal Netherlands Navy's largest ship HNMLS Karel Doorman, paying a courtesy visit. It was used as a hospital ship for Irish soldiers who were on UN duty in Liberia in 2003, there was a car accident that killed a member of the Irish army Rangers the special forces unit of the Irish army. The Irish Navy is currently in the process of getting their own similar multirole vessel in the near future.

James hoban from co Kilkenny actually travelled through that town on his way to America to design and build the American white house in 1794...

There's a lovely song, The Parting Glass, that I wouldn't be surprised if it would be sung at those American wakes.

Thank you for your take on ireland as a colony,it was absolutely a colony in every sense though at that time ie titanic irish farmers had control of there land,but they had to fight hard for that through the land league and the legacy of landlordism and the penal laws (anti catholic laws) were still there. The danger comes in when our history is used against modern british people who had no act or part and whose ancestors were probably threated only slightly better ,which you dealth with very well.

The church spire was the last view tens of thousands of migrants had of their homeland
@istvanbordas70422 жыл бұрын
I think this is maybe false. The spire was erected between 1911-1915 so the Titanic had sunk before that was finished.
