Not only is this epic and monumental in the movie, but it does send a message about being bullied. You see it throughout the film in various scenes. If you have the internal strength, fortitude, and confidence, then you can flip the script on them before they can use it against you. You take away whatever power they think they have over you.

Having Shook Ones as the backing track is a fantastic piece of foreshadowing. Em became slim shady and went on a ridiculous murder spree. As soon as AM realized Em was ripping himself and everyone around him to pieces, he was too shook to even try and formulate a rhyme. Perfect scene

It has nothing to do with Mackie not being from Michigan, Em just mixed real [general] info about Mackie's life with the character he was playing. It took me 5 minutes to find the interview with Anthony Mackie, so it's not exactly hidden information.

I encourage anyone who doesn't know to read up about the filming of this scene. Eminem got to know Mackie on set and rewrote this rap to personally roast Mackie, not out of any kind of spite or to actually rag on him, but to get a legit reaction out of Mackie. Mackie got too shook to finish, it was legit, and he tried to get them to reshoot it so he could do his half of the battle but they decided not to because this reaction was way too good.
