It looked like everyone was freezing! They tried to hide it, but the clouds of breath and arms tightly wrapped around themselves gave it away even beyond the snow covered mountains and grayness in the skies. Also, we knew it was filmed durning the Great Texas Freeze so it had to be cold. The cast must have really suffered wearing their flimsy costumes and sandals.

When Jesus said that they could always find him by looking for those groups He described in the Beatitudes. Don’t we all get a special joy in serving those who need it most, whether in a group or, better, anonymously? It’s because He is there! There is no greater joy! I was undone when Jesus was explaining that to Matthew. THIS is where you find Me.

The beatitudes scene shown here in the Chosen is I think one of the if not the most beautiful scene I've had the blessing of witnessing on screen. The only other scene that moved me in this way was where John narrates the beginning of his gospel while Jesus reads from Genesis at the beginning of season 2. The writing, acting, directing and everything that goes into this series is unreal. The effect this will have on countless individuals will truly help bring people into the Kingdom as they seek after the One true King. Thank you for your beautiful commentary Sam and Tom. It's such a blessing.

This is a beautiful scene. I'm also touched by Nicodemus when he came to realize the truth that Jesus is God (first season) and how it hurt him so much and couldn't leave his life all behind and follow Jesus completely. The struggle he was having when they were leaving for Samaria was heart breaking

I’ve cried every time I’ve watched the part where Jesus states the Beatitudes. It’s beautiful and I’ve come to understand the heart of Jesus in a better way than I have just reading the Bible, by Jonathon’s portrayal of Jesus. Jesus was not only to become a sacrifice for our sin, He was God in the flesh, seeking relationship with man. Of course, his closest friends were his disciples, so it’s very plausible he was thinking of them when he spoke about certain things. Jesus experienced every emotion that we feel throughout our lives, (except romantic love) so God could better understand mankind.

I am glad I am not the only one who wells up with tears while watching the Chosen. I grew up in the Catholic church and was never directed to study the bible, nor did I have an inclination to do so. I recently started attending a church with my wife and have been hit with a tidal wave of faith which can only be described as a fire lit in my soul. Watching the Chosen has helped kindle those flames and make me truly want to read the Gospel. I am so thankful for all the people who are spreading The Word!

Hi Sean, I also grew up in the Catholic church and was never directed to study the bible. I'm glad to hear, regardless of denominational upbringing, that you have a fire and have been motivated to read the Gospels. I feel the same way about the Chosen, it really brings scripture alive; even the fictional aspects seem influenced by Gods word. I'm convinced the Holy Spirit is involved in the writing and production. Let me know if there's anything you need prayer for. Merry Christmas!

This has become my post Chosen destination. Your insights on 1st century Israel are wonderful. I enjoy your reviews because while you acknowledge the departures from scriptures, you also realize that the show isn't meant to be a replacement for it. As an episodic series, I believe there needs to be storylines that connect and drama that unfolds in order to enhance the truth from a human perspective and to keep people coming back to the show. For example if the story of Mary of Magdala unfolded exactly like scripture, we wouldn't feel the weight of her sins being lifted off her and the relief she felt after her interaction with Jesus as well as we did from the first episode. I initially thought the handing out of flyers and the stage were silly, but your perspective of the series presenting it that way to show me, in my limited understanding (lol), the importance and magnitude of the sermon on the mount changed my mind completely. Cheers!

It is such a sad story, and tragic end to his life. Even though scripture says nothing about this, I like to think that Judas repented in the final moments of his life. He obviously greatly regretted what he had done. How many times have we all done something terrible, causing aweful events to occur, and then asked for forgivness almost immediately (I am certainly raising my hand). Nothing we could possibly do is too big for Jesus to forgive, and even with something so terrible as the betrayal of Jesus, Jesus was more that capable of forgiving Judas if he truely repented in the final moments of his life. I would like to think I will see Judas in heaven one day. An example of how no sin is too big for Jesus to forgive if you truly ask for His forgiveness.

He stole from the purse a little here and there just as we may keep a little of our hearts in the world here and there...without repentance - which means confessing/admitting, asking for forgiveness and importantly..turning away/changing our ways then we leave a back door ajar for satan

WoW one of those guys looks very much like the famous guitarist Mike Dawes. Dallas Jenkins is my hero of the loaves and fish of my heart. To God be the glory and praise! Jesus came not to condemn but to uplift the human soul. The Chosen is about the human aspect of how Jesus showed his disciples what to do and how to do it, even as they were sinners He loved them! WoW

The sermon was filmed in Texas during last February’s coldest temps Texas has seen in years! It almost shut down the electrical grid. The scenes were shot in small increments so the actors could put warm clothes on! What a cast!

HalleluYah - that is my guiding and "pressing on" Scripture in my life, "for the JOY set before him (her for me)" - the JOY of heaven and the JOY of the salvation, edification, repentance, healing, growing of others. Woohoo 🙌✨🔥💦🕊📖✝💜 We love you guys and thanks so much for the laughter, the tears and all the bits and pieces you share for our JOY. May it be as much of a JOY to you, too 🙏😍🌞

Love all your comments😁. I know the “stage” in the end was a question but when Jesus parted the curtain it seemed like a foreshadowing of the Temple vail to me. Maybe that wasn’t intended but it could be symbolism. 🤗. Love you guys.

I also thought the stage a bit weird. But then I thought of the time they heard him basically ask for one, the day he borrowed Simon's boat to be heard more clearly, and by a much smaller crowd.

I loved how the Chosen emphasizes the “narrow door” the salt and light, and the Beatitudes. I loved how Christ looks at Matthew as he is speaking the last part of the Beatitudes. I teared up, not just here, but other portions of the episodes.

I must say that you are the best reviewers I have seen except Dallas himself. Thanks for the wonderful work and I will be watching all your reviews in the future (and in the past). I do hope you have some in between season stuff that you will comment on, to keep us up to date on what you think is or will happen.
