Common Finals Devs W. I really love these updates and the explanation given on the "why" of everything. It's very refreshing to have a dev team that communicates and listens. Some positive feedback: I'm a huge fan of the skill levels being more balanced in ranked despite the longer queue times. I'd rather have a higher quality match and longer queue times than be fighting against diamonds while I'm in silver and not be compensated for beating higher skilled players. (I was diamond last season, but I don't play as much as the big time grinders out there) And I feel like this has been working. My matches have had longer queue times but they have seemed closer and more balanced. Negative feedback: Not the biggest fan of not seeing how your progressing in your games, but you already mentioned that, and I'm excited to see what yall come up with to make each game feel like you're actually doing something. Questions: have you ever considered making your rank not solely based upon the outcome of the tournament? What I mean is a hybrid ranked system. A system that takes support score, obj score, and combat score into consideration? This way if I'm solo queing and I have the highest combat score, support score and obj score, and my teammates happen to have an off game and we get eliminated first or second round, maybe my performance is taken into consideration and I don't lose as much as they might. I don't know the implications of this, but it would incentivise players to play their best at all times. Also, if someone reads this, where is the best place to leave feedback? Thanks again for these updates and phenomenal work in The Finals!

The problem with basing MMR changes on in game performance (Score) rather than the outcome of the match, is that it really drives players to unhealthy gameplay. If my rank was based on my combat score, I wouldn't care about the objective, I'd just pick a long range weapon and camp on some highground spamming pot-shots to farm combat score. People would get punished for actually trying to play the objective, because going for the objective is risky. Overwatch tried performance based ranking and it got abused almost immediately and removed super quickly to go back to the traditional Win/Lose ranking.

I really think that ranked system in Titanfall 1 was perfect because it calculates your own performance and winning or loosing is only a small part of it. Having a lot of kills/assists or helping your team in any way was contributing more for ranking up than only winning

Something to add to this guys is check the leaderboards to see where you are. For example, I placed in Gold 3 and was at #18,000 on the board. After playing a few ranked matches, I then checked and I was at #17,200. This typically indicates that you’re moving in the right direction towards your next rank. Hope this helps in the meantime, while they look into implementing the progress system into the game.

"If you stay longer in a tournament you get more points, if you get knocked out earlier - you lose more"...so it's basically the same as last season? What about individual performance? I thought that was part of the new system We need information or a progress bar to see what exactly is the best way to move up the ranks - and how individual performance plays into that. IE: What difference does it make if I win the finals with 30 kills and 5k support/objective score vs if I win with 10 kills and 2k support/objective score (my teammates carry me)?

I like that the new system encourages good team play and support instead of kills only. As a medium healer, I reached Gold 2, even without many kills, but with a lot of support and objective values. However, I don't like the fact that I don't know how a match went for me and how I performed. I don't need exact numbers, but at least a progress bar or a thumbs up/down would be nice to measure the game I played. Thanks for the update 😍

Would like to say how impressed i am with embarks commitment to their community, you guys are always listening to feedback and keeping ontop of patches/updates it really shows you care. Season 2 has been a blast so far, i haven't got one negative thing to say about the finals, embark has done an amazing job with all the new content that came with season 2. Ive played ranked and got placement matched into silver 2, ranked up to gold 3 now and felt although the queue times are long, they are definitley worth it as all of my games have been consistent and fair/close as you mentioned in the video. One small thing i would like to mention though and this could just be down to a skill issue; when playing ranked/tournement, there are moments where there are 2 vaults available to fight for and you end up having 3 teams on one vault and 1 team on the other, making that single team get a free cashout. In this same scenario, after getting team-wiped the game would often - but not always - spawn you next to the same vault along with the other 2 teams that are already there, while the single team continues to cashout uncontested. Like i said, this could just be a skill issue but the spawns play a major factor for what vault to push towards.

I love how you guys are listening to your community ! I literally drop all my shooting games to play full time on the finals ! The only problem that I see sometimes is the respawn, sometimes your respawn far from the cash out they steal from you . And the second issue that I see is matchmaking . I’m gold and sometimes they put me in games with diamonds which is kinda unfair sometimes

The ranked at present are frustrating. I'm not a pro player but in season 1 I reached the diamond after a long climb. With this system I ranked bronze because of the cheaters I met for a good half of the placement matches and the fact that for the remaining matches I only met people from the top 500. I have currently risen to gold 1 but I continue to meet people already diamond, pro player streamer or otherwise people who have three times my hours of play and higher and higher statistics. I could figure out if I were platinum 2. Approaching the diamond it would be right to meet it, but not in gold, not in silver or in bronze. The fact that you can't see how much you need to rank up is the worst thing ever seen on a video game. In all the games that have the possibility of ranking there are points that you keep as a reference to regulate yourself, to capture you are playing badly or well, whether with your team there is an understanding or not. It is not just a matter of understanding how much you are missing but a fact of reasoning how to approach the meta and the lobbies. Currently the skill level required in combination with matchmaking and the amount of points/game required to climb is too much. Developers should keep in mind that there's not just those who stream 8 hours a day or the child who comes home from school and plays until the evening. Most of the users are people who work and come home at 8 p.m. So you don't give them a chance of being able to reach the diamond just for the fact that you have to do PvP farms to reach that level.

Lots of great changes this season, and ranked overall feels much better and is more competitive in my opinion. My biggest pain-point with ranked right now is queuing into a lobby full of stacks as a solo queue player. The games where every other team in the lobby is a coordinated stack feel terrible, especially when my teammates aren’t on comms so I can’t combat it by being the IGL. This has become more of an issue the higher I climb on the ranked ladder because there are more stacks and fewer and fewer solo queue players to matchmake with.

Hey there, first of all these update videos are great! Ranked feedback: In a soloQ environment, I don't think its a good idea to go purely by winning/losing rounds. Performance should determine how much you move up and down (you have the support score, combat score and objective score, so balance the gains/losses based on that, it will take a lot of time to balance, but its a much better system for ranking!)

(I'm gold 4 btw) The new ranked feels alot better to play. I find the matches to be more fair and exciting to win. I agree a way of knowing if you have gone up or down on the ranked ladder is important, and I'm glad the devs are addressing it. One thing I hope to see next season is more ranked rewards. I was thinking instead of say the gold skin for example only being applied to the m60, how about the player can chosse what gun to apply the gold skin to. This would both be easy to implament and make the ranked rewards feel more personal to each induvidual player becuase they could put the skin on their favorite weapon. I would also like to see 1 or 2 more ranks added to better distinguish player skill, i.e. masters or emerald or iron or something. Overall really enjoying the new season and the new ranked system and really enjoy the transparency from the devs!

I love the transparency and how much embark cares about their community. Regarding the changes in making a visual indication of rank gains or losses after a match, I think just adding match history to your profile screen would cover the most bases. Ranked gains and daily wins/losses would be amazing to have like a 10 game history of.

Ranked idea : Everytime you end a ranked Match you see a LITTLE Animation ( and or picture) that for example Shows your current Rank and the next/before , if you GAIN Rank your Rank is shown on the underside of the Monitor and the next one on top with a Little arrow below it which goes up and when you LOSE Rank it‘s the Opposit . (Sorry my english isn‘t the best )

I think this season is an overall improvement. Que times are longer but I’m not playing top 500 every single game like last season. I’m mostly playing with players within 3-4 ranks within my own rank. We definitely need to see the return of the FP or at least a way to see current rank progress and post match progress on the ranks. Only thing I can think of to be added to the current mode is the ability to que as a full solo squad against other solos. Might screw up match making for teams of 3 but it’s worth a try to see what difference it makes. I’d love to see a future where we get power shift or other future game modes added into ranked. Additional ranked playlists/modes would be awesome

I feel like a good way to help solo queue ranked is to make it so even if you get eliminated early in the tournament you will lose less rank when you perform better. Positive kda, high support and combat score, etc.

I think that only goes for placement games. I feel like the reason they took away fame points was cause it was solely based on win or lose as a team. Maybe now the new ranked system is based on individual performance and they don’t have a way to show that without people exploiting it by going for more kills or support instead of playing objective I’m not sure. @The Finals team, please could you implement a tiered region matchmaking selection. For example 1.Europe 2.North America 3...... then if matchmaking takes too long E.g i am waiting for 5 minutes then it will start the search in other less preferred regions at the same time so i am not waiting for 10+ minutes to find a game when it is not peak time for my region. I find this is happening a lot since the number of players is very low at the moment.

Ranked is so much better now than in S1. Longer matchmaking is so worth it. The indicator that you are working on will be great. I would also like to see a more performance based rank than just "how far you make it in the tournament" but I'm sure that's much harder to implement

Season 1 I made it to plat3, and was slowly climbing up. Had a great time. The system made sense. Season 2. Got placed in silver2. Kept playing for a few days, just getting stomped. Didn't win the tourney once. Rank never changed and no progress indication. Was sure it was a bug, no way someone thought it was an improvement. No idea what issues it was even supposed to solve.

Oscar…we need a progress bar at the very least. Also the whole point of a skill based league system, is to reward skill. Kills, steals, objective score, support score, why have these metrics if they do not contribute to your rank? Please fix this. Love you (Edit) For example: A team with a combined 3 kills, can avoid the third party all game, and end up receiving more “FP” then the team with 20 kills, 4 steals, and 10 revives, simply because they place higher? That’s not skill based.

@@vbgfrnc I don’t want it based on kills, hence the reason I never said I wanted it based on kills. I listed multiple metrics, including kills, that should contribute to your rank. Objective score is not kills. Steals are not kills. Support score is not kills. I can tell you’re not highly ranked or diamond, because if you were you would know that out performing every other team, just to get stolen from in the last 7 seconds of the game by a third and fourth party, should not constitute a net negative in FP gain. Anyone remotely competitive would understand that.

I love this game, I think the ranked system is good right now because of the potential in the future, just wish there was a progress update but now knowing that yall are working on that makes me very satisfied, but one thing I hate from season 1 to season 2 is xp, I love the fact theres more challenges and ect but why remove gaining xp from playing matches, makes playing the game feeling a lot less grindable which is something a lot of people love about playing video games, like cod for example I wish there was also a way to prestige your level, I hit level 50 back in season 1 and I was hoping season 2 to would reset the level and different rewards and in my opinion that was a big missed opportunity but a big opportunity to bring into the game for season 3, but right now once I've completed all my challenges, dailys, ect and got diamond in ranked I feel no need to play the game anymore which is very sad because I like the game but I lose the grind and makes me wanna play a different game but right now theres no good games compared to the finals, overall opinion definitely not a bad game and has some huge potential!!!

One of the best things you can do for ranked is add good rewards. The FCAR skin looks really nice and was the reason I pushed to diamond early this season. Top 10/50 rewards could be cool in future seasons 👀

Hello Embark Studios, the Gyro implementation on PS5 is missing a key feature. Gyro modifier button (disable) looks like you tried assigning it to the look stick, but the disable option leaves gyro off permanently, instead just disable gyro when the look stick is being used. just need a button option for this, lots of us gyro players use touch the touchpad for gyro disable. its very important to let us reposition the controller back to a nuetral spot. Im not sure if you are frowning on flick stick, but if you add flick stick and that button, oh wow the gyro would be perfect, but the minimum is the disable button. love your game, thank you Embark

I think that the outcome of your tournament being the only thing counting for your rank isn't the best option. If you perform really well (for example score massive objective and combat score), but still barely not qualify due to your underperforming teammates or that one team that was just a little bit better you'll still lose progress to your next rank as much as your teammates. I think while the outcome should be the biggest factor for rank placement (since The Finals is a team game after all), individual performance should be a modifier to that score. So if you get knocked out round one while performing well you should lose only a little bit of progress

I have never played ranked in any game until this season in the finals. I agree that playing and winning a long, tense tournament feels a bit meaningless when there's no feedback at the end about how your rank was affected.
