Sir Algo Rhythm brought me here. His choices are usually a bit dodgy but this time I really want to hear more. Love the aesthetic too….flannel shirts and a changing picture on the wall caught my eye. Bravo.

Excellent and practical "behind the scenes" discussion of this topic. Every (extremely amateur) recital I've done, I've had to fudge something, usually on the order of 1 or 2 bars.

Just remember the immortal words of Vladimir Horowitz advising Gitta Gradova right before her performance of Rachmaninoff's Paganini Rhapsody (as quoted in Gary Graffman's memoir "I Really Should Be Practicing"): "I wasn't especially nervous - just normally excited," she recalled, "until we got into the cab. And then he started. He wanted to reassure me, of course, but his method was strange, to say the least. "'Gitta,' he said, 'in case you feel that you're going to forget... that you're going to have a memory lapse... just remember that many of the variations begin on A. So if you think you're going to have a memory lapse, just concentrate on A. Simple! That should help, in case you forget. Don't forget!' "'Yes, Volodya,' I said, beginning to feel my hands get clammy. "'So just remember, if you think you're going to forget, just remember A.' "'Yes, Volodya,' I said, wishing he'd shut up, already. "'And one final word of advice: In case you _do_ forget, don't stop. No matter what happens, _don't stop playing!_ Remember, _no matter what happens_, keep on going! Don't stop! _IT'S PROWINCIAL TO STOP!_' "By the time we got to the auditorium, we were both sick."

For some reason these videos are not recommended by YT anymore. Had to search to see if there was new content.

Probably because I stopped posting for so long, the algorithm tends to leave creators behind who don't keep up a regular upload schedule
