The Fire Alarm Went off in a Refrigerator Room At Grocery Outlet in Hamilton New Jersey. It was a Gentex Commander 3 going off with a blue Strobe and on Continuous.

That's generally a freezer alarm, but the fact that they're using a Gentex Commander 3 fire alarm for that is rather disturbing...

Not necessarily as it had a blue strobe. I've seen Gentex Commander three's used at Fred Meyers with green strobes when a shopping cart wheel randomly locks. That said, sounded like that one was set to high volume continuous which is the more concerning part.

Blue strobes and horns are used in the refrigeration industry for refrigerant detection. A lot of modern grocery stores and industrial warehouses use C02, which is colorless, odorless, and an asphyxiant. It’s possible it’a a Gentex commander rebranded by CTI as part of their gas detection / notification system. I commonly see the same alarms with red strobes on systems that operate with ammonia.

You are sure lucky to be the first one on youtube to record that alarm going off! and by the way, that's not the fire alarm. It's a refrigerant alarm device that notifies people when refrigerant has leaked out of the cooler, I hope this solves your confusion, very nice video!

I belive its an alarm for the Refrigerator it sounds if there is something wrong with Refrigeration unit like loss of power or temps are going up and need to be reset if it was the fire allarm it would be everthng going off not just the Refrigerator Room Costco has alarms like this too on thire refrigerator units.

It is a refrigerant leak alarm. My Walmart uses MTs for refrigerant leaks. The one time I saw a Commander 3 used for a freezer was for the door. It had a yellow strobe, and it let's us know that the door was left open.

It is not a fire alarm, but the base of the device looks like to it, you must be confused or something.

The blue strobe told me it was something else. I was just was calling it a fire alarm because some devices like that are used as a fire alarm. The reason why the blue strobe told me it was something else blue strobes actually not allowed to be used as fire alarm strobes.

Couldn't really find what a blue strobe would mean. Ranges from police, carbon monoxide, to possibly a coolant leak. Given it was in the regfrigerated section. Where I use to work there was only two or three Gentex Commander 3's in the sea of SpectrAlert Advances. They wete white and had nlue strobes and they were used for clean agent discharge/activation near the computer/server room. I think the Third one in a different building was blue too but I could be wrong. Might of been yellow. I know my fred meyers near where I live uses C3's with Green Strobes as par of EAS Sytem. Usually if a cart wheel locks by accident ect. But good find it was set to continous with a blue strobe.

@@davidstorm2011 That's also true or clean agent which I saw near a server room where I used to work. There was two white commander 3 three's with blue strobes but that was for clean agent activation/fire suppression. This was not tied into the normal sprinkler system and were independent alarms from the main system.
