Something people forget is how your hand size factors in. How comfortable you are holding the gun your palm can really effect how well you shoot with it. If possible ask to hold each gun in your hands for a few minutes and trust your gut.

A 1911 is chambered in 45 ACP, which is much better than a Glock chambered and 9 mm 9 mm kills the body but 45 ACP kills the soul. You gotta make sure that person doesn’t come back as a ghost. Aside 1911 is good in a variety of situations. It is a very dependable, semi automatic handgun. Glocks are so wild and bonkers with how many variations there are I have no clue So it really depends on how what you are looking for

Glock is very versatile, high capacity, low recoil, easily modular and ammo is generally cheaper. Buying a 1911 is mostly because its cool, it's a piece of history, and to be honest do you think you'll ever need more than 7 rounds to a magazine?

Having used both, I find the 1911 the most enjoyable, however there is an advantage in the mag capacity on the glock, which could help counterbalance the lack of power from the 9mm.

1:45 depends on the availability of ammo of your area and the use you want out of it, 1911 is a oldie but it’s decent enough to serve they lots of wars but the Glock is pretty much standard service everywhere and ammo is almost universal.

It depends tbh Both the 1911 and Glock can be chambered in eachothers traditional cartrage. If you like a heavier, metal single stack gun, go for the 1911. Thanks to the steel, it has a lesser extent of recoil, and the single action trigger is far better. If you want a lighter double stack, go for a glock. It has a high rate of fire, so if need be spray and pray to keep someones head down at least. If you want a heavier double stack, go for a 2011. Benefits of both, Metal frame, high power cartrage, and double stack. Weight and handling is the only issue

If I had to pick between a 1911 and a Glock, I’d say Glock for the optics mounting options (seriously a red dot is much easier to aim than iron sights), but I also do recommend the CZ-75 as it’s very reliable. You might also want to look at a .22lr pistol at some point because the ammo is dirt cheap (I can get 1000 rds for 70 usd in the states) and it’s a good training caliber. I’m looking at getting the Kel-Tec P17 as my next gun.

1:50 Can't really go wrong with a wonder nine, and Glocks have been in use for years now, they've worked out the kinks pretty well. Alternatively, you could get a CZ. Having trained with the P-09, I like it well enough. Or you could check out what the lads at Grand Power in Slovenská Ľupča have made, though I'm not sure how much one of their pieces costs. Edit: Groom Lake is where Area 51 is.

The M1911 looks good, feels good, is reliable, and overall is just a total classic. That being said it’s older than Jimmy Carter and very outdated. Think of buying it like collecting an antique rather than buying a modern weapon. If you want an effective modern handgun that is easy to handle and fire then the Glock is the best choice. Fantastic gun that I would recommend.

Glock for defense, 1911 for fun and for drip, if those are your choices. Don't believe the fuddlore that .45 is better than 9mm, the difference is painfully negligible. If the Glock is also .45, still get the Glock, since you'll have bigger capacity anyway. 1911 is more pleasant to shoot than Glock however. Beretta 92 if you want drip _and_ capacity.
