So THAT’s how you do it. You’re a real tease! Isn’t it amazing, how expressive our double reed instruments lend themselves to so much individuality of the artist, the best of the best? Well done.

I like how Daniel Matsukawa explains everything, from technique to some meta-technique (I'm sorry if that's not a word, I invented that word), I mean beyond technique, he explain how to play it (fingering and air) and how it the idea should sound. Pretty analogies for the sound.

The Philadelphia Symphony orchestra has for decades recorded the best top-notch recordings which any instrumentalist would want to listen to, and compare with others. Anytime in its existence each and every player has been qualified as a solo artist.

Fantastic presentation!!! Thank you, Daniel Matsukawa, for sharing your remarkable ideas musically and technically!!! Astoundingly inspiring sound!! and loved your attention to the various entrances of each section or instrument and how their lines relate to the bassoon solo… your explanation of being inspired in the performance by colleagues and the magnificent music along the way and and organically move into the solos…such a gift!!!

I agree: GORGEOUS tone!! I am new to the bassoon after over 50 years playing the violin but I am loving it! What kind of instrument is he playing?

I know this is a little late but try to open up your throat like you're yawning, but while playing the bassoon. I've played the bassoon but I mostly play the clarinet, and the use of air is near interchangeable. So try that, it should help :)
