I probably had one of the 1st generation Firesticks. It got thrown in a drawer, and there it has stayed. I bought an android box and never looked back. Now use a TX6 4Gb/32Gb box .... never a problem, no buffering and ample storage. I would never buy something that has 2 streaming company buttons on the remote.

I love the Firestick and use it exclusively throughout my home. I also have a few Rokus which I never use, and that is primarily because I cannot download 3rd party APKs with it; otherwise it is actually a little better than the Firestick. Anyway, thank you for this video, I am always looking for the next best thing.

I agree. I have now tried both. I would be happy with the Roku if I was always in the US. But is astonishingly poor for English content when outside the Us and cannot support a VPN. I tried setting up a VPN in a router for use with ROKU, but that adds complexity and even then the Live TV Channel content would not stream. I could get US menus and content descriptions, but not the live content. Back to the Firestick…

I've had my me stick for more than one year now it's still works seamlessly and it's awesome. but you are correct about the remote it is not well made i am on my third replacement remote. It's not that they stopped working it's just that if you press right-left or up and down momentarily it will continue all the way to the right left up and down the remote is the only issue

While I'm a fan of many Xiaomi products, at $60, I'd be much more likely to go for ONN's 4K box (now w/Chromecast) which has a remote far superior to the Mi stick, and also better than the Fire remotes, all for 20 BUCKS. Even their 2k stick is very good, and is HALF that price. For those unfamiliar, ONN is a Walmart store brand that knocks off many popular products. The 4k box and 2k stick are often sold out.

Can third party apps be installed? The ONLY reason I still use my Firestick is because I have Cinema on it, and I've signed up for Real Debrid, which works great on it. Otherwise, I use a Roku. But if this one will allow third party apps, once Firestick blocks their use, I'll make the switch.

I found the FireStick alternative about a week after I bought my first gen stick ...... it was called an android box. The FireStick was thrown into a drawer never to see the light of day again ! Thanks for the video. NONE of the Android remotes have a rewind, play/pause. or fast forward buttons, like the Firesticks and the Rokus do. Since most remotes are Bluetooth these days, maybe we could pair an extra Roku or Firestick remote with the Android boxes/sticks? Have you tried that?

you are right look at what memmory is costing when you can get a 1TB ssd hard drive for 50 bucks you cant tell me an extra 8 gig is going to cost that much these companies should be ashamed to offer 8 gig storage in this day and age the first firestick cam out 9 years ago they have yet to do a significant upgrade.
