I'm definitely no expert but to those who might get the wrong idea. Buddha wasn't a Buddhist. What he taught was the dharma, meaning seeing things the way they are. When someone bow down to a statue of the Buddha, they are mainly showing respect to his teachings. And there is no idol worship. The Buddha never claimed to be God. The narrator of this documentry made it perfectly clear. To have a good understanding of this type of subject like most things require a fair amount of time and study.

Yes. They are called Austronesians and Australasian. There's no doubt been ancient links between the Nile and Indus Valley civilizations. It would be fascinating if there was some direct link between the great philosophers that succeeded the great African leader Shabaka and the rise of the historical Buddha, but I haven't seen a lot of evidence in that respect. The Shakya clan was from the Nepal area, east towards the Ganges and north towards the foothills of the Himalayas, so there's a whole world between them. The philosophy of the Shabaka stone, as interpreted by modern Africanists, is truly the one branch of human spirituality that precedes Buddhism that could have been profound enough to have actually inspired it. But it's also true that the Buddha's revolution against the corrupted caste system was an expression of a universally human response, and rooted in the culture of the Indus. As a practicing Buddhist myself, I would be happy if it were the case that missionaries from Kush-Kemet inspired the breakthroughs in spirituality that were flourishing throughout India at the time. However, people who declare this often just leave it at that sweeping statement and share no scientific evidence. Actually, this video is kind of misleading. The statues of the Buddha are from different time-periods and locations, but were not labeled at all. It is well established that the Buddha was not artistically represented in the form of a human statue until around 300 years after his death. Before that the Buddha was usually depicted as a tree surrounded by ground that had his footprints, or as the wheel of the law (dharma). The first statues were from the Gandhara region of Central Asia, which was influenced by the Greek arts. And there's no denying the African influence in the Indus, both culturally and phenotypically, but that is difference that stating a man traveled from Africa and preached in India as the Buddha. Many of the sculptures shared in this video are noted in the work of Dr Rashidi and Dr Sertima, and they are largely from Southeast Asia. Buddhism reached there even later than in Central Asia, so their depiction speaks more of the ethnic make up of the local people of Southeast Asia than they do of the actual physical look of the historical Buddha in India. They depicted Brahamanistic sculptures with similar African features. This geographical area was influenced mainly by the branch of Buddhism that deified Shakyamuni and therefore their sculptures were more akin to worshipping some god-like figure than they were about the human being who we identify as having pioneered a spiritual liberation. As was the case in ancient Kemet, the people tended to represent their "gods" or Neters after the way that they saw themselves. Perhaps this logic should apply to the art made use of for this video. Again, the Buddha could well have had strong African features, there's just no concrete way of telling yet. Regardless it is his universal humanity which makes the practice of the philosophy which evolved in Central and Eastern Asia over centuries so powerful and need in today's world. Actually, even though he empowered people from all walks of life, many of his followers were from aristocratic families. It is part of the historical context that in India, those that were well off could have the privilege to seek spiritual development. This tendency limited the scope of his reform to some degree. This is why the philosophical evolution of the Buddhist teachings is so important to it's history. Reformers in Afghanistan, Kucha, China, and Japan continued to develop it's wisdom and broaden it's practical application among the common people.
