The first client as a postpartum doula

You're a new postpartum doula. You've done your training and you SWEAR you were paying attention. But that was a few weeks (months) ago and you have your first client this week and have NO IDEA what to do.
It's OK you're not alone. Every video I make is to answer questions I see posed ALL THE TIME in Facebook groups. Sometimes when we take in a lot of information we get overwhelmed by how big it is and we lose ourselves in the simplicity of it all.
In this video I go through a typical day as a postpartum doula. Hopefully it will bring you back down to the core essense and help you relax so you can be the doula you were meant to be. Please feel free to post any other things you like to do at your own postpartum shifts if you've been around the block a time or two as a doula. Good luck!

Thank you for this Stef. Since my training last year I have worked with one client (a friend of mine) because I have been a little nervous about putting myself out there. This video was very helpful. Time to put myself out there. :)

Well that's usually a little simpler. Typicallly we'll do a check-in when we arrive and then the parents will want to go to bed to get much needed sleep. If the person is body feeding baby then we'll bring them baby to feed and then let them get back to sleep. Different doulas handle things differently for overnight so there is a lot of variation, but mostly people are hiring us so they can recover and sleep so we tend to focus on baby and not on any other chores at night.
