You can get to Magneto as Akuma in the arcade version (Magneto will ALWAYS be after Juggernaut), but your beginning opponent has to be someone specific. You have to fight against either Sentinel, Spiral, Iceman, or Storm as your first opponent. So you can’t start against Omega Red, or Colossus. I may be missing who else you can’t start against with, someone you play against and your final opponent will end up being Iceman. Edit: Ok, so I saw a playthrough with the starting opponent as Omega Red, and he still ended up getting Magneto at the end. So maybe it’s just random chance you actually get to fight against Magneto. I’ll have to do some more digging.
@gonzalotorres52824 ай бұрын
You have to win most fights with a Super Finish. Juggernaut should appear as your 7th opponent, then the 8th is Magneto. If you cannot reach any of those, or Juggs is the 8th, or won't appear at all. You can fight against Akuma if you do the mentioned before AND didn't lose any rounds. He'll appear as the 6th opponent.
@pious834 ай бұрын
It reminds me of the 16 Bit X-Men game. If you played it on Easy, you couldn't fight Magneto and got a game over screen telling you he doesn't fight weaklings. Seems oddly relevant here.

Pretty sure Fatal Fury Special is the first game to include a crossover character in Fighting Game history. Hell, Ryo Sakazaki is the unsung hero of the FGC because SNK quite literally invented super moves, taunts, crossovers and more through him. Fatal Fury Special crossover inspired the King of Fighters and Super Smash Brothers.
@ShinUltima4 ай бұрын
Things to consider: Fighter's History had Karnov, who was in another Data East game. This came out before Fatal Fury Special and should be considered the first example of a crossover character. However, Karnov wasn't playable in the original arcade game, only in the home port via code and the sequel. Fatal Fury Special: Ryo is first playable crossover character. COTA: Akuma is the first actual _guest_ character (also playable) because Akuma is not native to X-Men in any way and is owned by a different company. After all, Ryo/Art of Fighting is in the same universe as Fatal Fury and Karnov is owned by Data East who made Fighter's History.

The reason Akuma is in Children of the Atom at the time was cause when Capcom and Marvel had their game license deal, one of that deal was to make an X-Men fighting game. Capcom said for them to agree to that deal they need to also include a Street Fighter character in the game which Marvel agree. Fortunately that character had to be Akuma cause it just make sense. For one Akuma is just an avatar character at the time who had no identity yet and had no storyline with anything yet so it would make sense for him to be in the game after his multiple cameos in Street Fighter II V anime and Street Fighter II The Animated Movie.

They kinda do. Namely that it wasn't actually CAPCOM that figured out the licensing issues but Arcade1Up's manager, who USED to be the guy on Capcom that worked out licensing agreements between Marvel and Capcom, because I think he had worked on both companies? Essentially what I hear is that guy was like THE reason these games happened in the first case, he was the only one willing to and capable of navigating the byzantine bullshit of negotiations between East and West, and now that Marvel is Disney-owned and exponentially more demanding, to the point where they only okay'd the Arcade1Up collection because an arcade device technically counts as a "toy" rather than a videogame, which apparently involves far less legal red-tape. In essence- figuring out the legal issues for a videogame collection release is gonna be WAY harder than an arcade-device, and the only guy with experience and trust is working for himself now, not Capcom. So... don't get your hopes up.
