Ultimately, Kenny had to come forward. He had the looks and, despite the great voices all around, his was the most distinctive. Soon, Thelma would be gone and Mary Arnold would emerge, beating out Karen Carpenter in an audition.

@@TheresaPowers Kenny never wanted to go Solo or have his name upfront. It was the Record Lable that insisted on it. He treated every one equal and recognized their talent. He only went Solo after Band decided to disband. Far from being what you describe him as. LOVED and RESPECTED by his peers.

He never wanted his name up front it was the Record Label that insisted on that. The same thing was done to Gary Puckett & The Union Gap. He didn't want Band to disband and only went Solo after they decided to call it quits. Watched their TV Show Rollin on the River later shortened to Rollin. Terry Williams, Thelma Camacho, Mary Arnold, Kin Vassy, Mickey Jones, Jimmy Hassell, John Hobbs, Gene Lorenzo all SUPER TALENTED. Did you know on the Recording of Just Dropped In that Glen Campbell plays the intro & Outro? Jimi Hendrix told them that this was his favorite song. Wish they STAYED TOGETHER. 🎸🎙🎶📻

Yeh, they didn't sound too good on this particular song, unfortunately. In the sixties the group always wore black and white outfits to suit their name: The First Edition, as in newsprint.

I kind of thought that performance sucked. Mary Arnold and Kin Vassy were definite upgrades over Thelma Camacho and Mike Settle.
