Some of that footage of the fire itself was actually used in the season 10 episode of Murdoch Mysteries, "Great Balls of Fire, pt. 2" six years ago. The first episode of the season ended with the Great Fire just starting, and the next episode had the Inspector explaining to Det. Murdoch what happened and how much area was affected...and the scene of the two of them transitions from colour to sepia tone as they cross-faded to this actual footage. It was wonderful seeing that done so brilliantly and seamlessly...as well as dealing with a very cataclysmic part of our city's history within the confines of the story.

Strange how there was a fire in every major city in North America US and Canada around that time. Another oddity is how a fire spread that fast around stone and brick buildings. There's definitely more than meets the eye and enters the ears

Strange indeed. There were great fires from that time period in every major city all over the world. i am sure it's nothing and not fishy at all. We build fire places with brick/stones but totally normal for stone buildings to crumble

Slight correction, zero deaths directly linked to the fire itself. One man died while trying to dynamite a building afterwards.

Destroyers of Antiquity. They dynamited and sprayed flammables on the buildings.

I assume they dumped the old bricks and debris into the lake to expand Toronto southward?
