I backpack hunted the Pasayten wildnerness when I lived in Washington 15 years ago, and it always amazed me ranchers releasing their cattle in the middle of nowhere on USFS land.

We use a Mr Buddy Heater in our canvas bell tent. Even though the peak is vented, we bought an extra carbon monoxide detector and keep it near our heads of our cots. Never had an issue, but thirty dollars of redundancy and couple more ounces is worth living. Happy hunting!

Keep a CO2 detector with you as well. $30 piece of mind. Always have one in my tent when camping during ice fishing outings and using my Buddy heater.

FYI- Carbon monoxide is heavier than air. Venting the top of your tent won't help. Just lets the heat out.

Man, I am so bummed about that hunt. I dropped my phone in the water and it wouldn't turn on so I sent the phone to a data repair center to salvage the footage. I was supposed to get my stuff back, if repairable, by November 29th. It's almost a month later and I haven't heard back. The phone pretty much has 99% of all the footage of animals including the kill shot. If it wasn't for that, that hunt would've been uploaded a few weeks ago. Fingers crossed that they can salvage the footage at least. 🤞

Carbon monoxide is it the lower part of your tent not the top so the vent in the roof does not work. Carbon monoxide sinks. And carbon monoxide is definitely lethal
