I'm so glad to hear this. I usually shoot wildlife, but dabble in landscape. All I heard was to go with the pricey 12-24 f2.8. The 24-105 f4 just made more sense to me despite being an amateur. It's lighter, and I didn't think I needed the big aperture.

Not a beginner, but I consider this excellent advice for someone who is. Excellent point on 2.8 too. F4 is going to be lighter and saving weight is an important consideration, especially with that tripod you should carry. You have a great eye, btw.

I have the Nikon 24-120 f4 equivalent, probibley the only landscape lense that I'll ever need though I sometimes use the 20mm f1.8 sparingly

No, not a zoom Lens ! I use only prime Lenses 14mm, 24mm, 35mm, 65mm Macro which are a universal versatile Lens, (sometimes 55mm) and 135mm, (sometimes longer Lenses). Most of the time handheld, sometimes on a tripod.

They produce the best quality, the prime lens. But you need to keep change it

@@BonciuToma I always use 2 Cameras, so I do not need to change that much, but even if I only carry one Camera, It is no problem to change Lens, I will always prefer the best possible image quality which the prime Lenses have and further more IF you get a high performing zoom lens (which still not is in class with prime Lenses !) then the size, weight and price are HUGE !

This is advice for a beginner, not someone who carries 6 primes in their bag. He's right on in his suggestion.

@@cameraprepper7938not disagreeing with anything you said but this view is for a ‘beginner’ that has one camera and one lens and is just starting out with their photography journey. He is absolutely correct in his recommendations. And you will find that more and more professionals are switching to these lighter smaller for factor lenses for their work and the results are just as good as with primes. Zoom lenses have come a long way in IQ.
