Finally! Blue Peter is Blue. It's always been green and now it's in Blue.

I hear a chime whistle is back, although I presume not the old step top from the 1980s? It is lovely to see it back in action, and the blue is a nice nod to the name, although naturally it picks my rivet counter accuracy side (as does the chime whistle)..... Hats off to those involved though.

Thank you for your comments. Great to see it back.

It's the same whistle it had from North America probably just had light work done to it to keep it in good condition you'll be surprised how long stuff like that can be used for if kept in top condition
@jacobwoods87384 ай бұрын
@@jackstrains1569Thank you. Having finally seen a picture of it, shape wise it looks like the old NZR step top, and the sound seems to fit. I certainly can understand things lasting, the museum I am involved with has a locomotive with what is said to be its original service era whistle, based upon the markings. It is 1930s at newest, 1911 at oldest. Cheers.

And now its only a matter until the BBC get involved with the engine.

@@trainiacvideos3832 wouldn't surprise me if the BBC for one of their episodes of Blue Peter decide to recreate what they did for the show's 40th birthday and the engine's 50th, & run 60532 down the ECML from Edinburgh to Kings Cross or even in the other direction from Kings Cross to Edinburgh.
@tooleyheadbang42393 ай бұрын
@@MasterMoyle I really hated the round headboard on that run.
@MasterMoyle3 ай бұрын
@@tooleyheadbang4239 I wasn't a huge fan of that either and from the scenes when they were servicing 60532 in York at the NRM it had to be taken off so that they could open the smokebox door.

Any thoughts on when it will be the first working on a main line railtour? July 25th Taunton- Exeter, which seems a very short stretch of the main Paddingdon-Exeter tour, or is there an earlier one?

More NE locos returning to traffic later this year: Q6, K1, J72, A1, and A3.
@MasterMoyle4 ай бұрын
A3's already running it's just not got an operator presently. K1 we don't know what the situation is going to be with that as while it is being overhauled for use on the mainline, even when finished as things are going at present it wont be useable for Jacobite workings as it's not got air brakes. Q6 meanwhile has been very quiet as there hasn't been updates on the situation with the new cylinder that needs fitting.

What an awful colour, 60532 NEVER carried this blue paint job from new, what a mess.

We have our own opinions to the colour scheme, but we should be grateful that the engine is back to life and living again.
