@@yomatasaki I think I figured out why. If you look closely, the character models are made mostly of low-detail spheres, Juggler-Amiga-Demo-style. One needs simply shift layer order to give an impression of 3D movement, as opposed to rigid sprites.

this game is so nostalgic. i used to have it way back but then eventually got told that "it wasn't possible to play it anymore" and never really got a good reason. (apart from maybe incompatibility with newer windows but even then i play sims 2 on windows 10 works fine sure it needed some tweaking but it wasn't imossible for someone with a little know how)

the games absolutely still work on modern computers! there's a mod called petza that lets it run smoothly on about any computer.

@@litchtheshinigami8936 From my experience, Windows 10 can run a lot of old games pretty well (of course you may have to do some tweaking here and there, depending on the game). I’ve got quite a bit of retro games on my PC, I was fortunate enough to not need to download any fixes or anything of the sort at all.

I loved Babyz, Catz, and Dogz growing up. They were huge stim games for me. I was hoping that at some point someone would make modern versions of them. So far, I'd say Wobbledogs is a modern take on Dogz :3

In the Dogz and Catz games, you can breed the pets and create all kinds of cool mixed-breeds. Babyz was fun, but not as fun as Petz, imo.

@@kaitlando636 You can breed catz to catz and dogz to dogz, the pigs and rabbits were coded different so you couldn't have wacky hybrids by the original standards of the game. The thing is the modding community for Petz was wild(talented asf) and had everything from cheetahs(based on dog for some reason if I recall correctly), birds, dogs/cats with wings, fish that floated through the air, to snakes and Spinosaurus. I literally can't scratch the surface of my memory I must've had at least 200 mods back in the day.. The mod petz, to be put into the game, basically had to be based on dog or cat DNA/behavior if you want to think of it that way, but bodies looked however they modded it to, and eventually they figured out custom sounds n such. The mod petz were fully able to breed with whatever else original and mod petz that match their DNA base and could result in crazy stuff like literally 1-pixel wide bodies, weird floating/disconnected shapes, passing down or mutating crazy colors and textures. The genetics in the petz is actually complex and they have litters of 1-4 babies where siblings aren't just copies of parents or each other usually their markings/colors/sizes develop different - and soo interesting to see what it makes through multiple generations.

I love the petz dogz series. I played dogz 2 and 5 all the time when i was younger. No idea that they made an oddballz one thats....odd lol. I even havr a plush dog based on them too.
