I love how old fashioned it looks. Just was less cluttered than some of the more complicated synths

I really like that filter interface design.

I do too! Seems far better for working with LPF & HPF interplay than the standard controls that every other synth uses. The one drawback is that there isn't a resonance control, that switch on the right toggles it on and off.... if the resonance could be variable that would satisfy me, even having it over to the side, you always see the cutoff & resonance knobs paired, and usually the HPF doesn't have resonance anyways. I really wish my JDxA used this 'traveler' control interface for the filters' cutoff points. Very cool.

Excellent presentation Tom, I love the synth history too!

This video expertly articulates how the non-standard design of this synthesizer plays out - both by putting in terms of standard synth parlance and also showing (describing verbally but moreover w super effective sonic examples) some of the unique advantages to this alternative synth design. Nice vibes.

Just came across due to YT algorithm. Subbed and giving it a try. Hi:) Aesthetic means something. A gorgeous synth. Watching this as I have two CS-80's and a CS-60 in the cab of my pickup, picked up from a FOUR year restoration project. CS-80#2 being quite special, as it has no serial number, and was purchased from the estate of a gentleman who got it from Ray Charles. It is, using provincial information so far, the very first CS-80. They are too heavy to play with until I get home in Cleveland, so on YT seeing what's new. Like what I am taking in from your presentation style. Cheers!

What a fun little synth. But when I checked out the price, things turned serious - yikes! Unfortunately, a lot of the folks who would most love to have one of these (as a fun lead k.b. to sit above their poly workstation), will be stopped in their tracks, when they consider all the other machines they could get for the same kind of money (or less). :^/

It's not cheap, but you can still try to find an older 700S!
@pbasswil2 жыл бұрын
@@tombutcher1774 I just hope Korg sells enough of them so they're encouraged to pursue other labour-of-love analog projects. I assume they sell enough MS-20s; but they're priced where someone might press Add to Cart before they've had time to hem & haw too much...

The market for mono synths at this price has diminished dramatically.
