I mention this every time I can! Xibruq Pibil is inspired in a real mexican technique of cooking (Actually a mayan technique) which implies cooking under the earth a dish wrapped in banana leaves. The most popular is the Cochinita Pibil. They really did a nice job researching the cultures.

Honestly, I had been raging about Doctor Who mishandling adoption stories and placing biological parents over adoptive parents who did the hard work of loving and raising the child so I loved the acknowledgement that even though bio-dad was proud of her he recognized that Galool Ja Ja remained her real father. In my experience adoptive children with loving relationships with their adoptive parents always view them as the real parent, even if they may be interested in meeting and getting to know their biological parents those relationships remain secondary.

The moment i see Bakuul as a perfect example of a redeeming villain, not because there was reason for his actions or behavior, but because they want to change. "I want this to end. I don't want any more to die!" That cemented it for me
@jjc1015 ай бұрын
Yeah he's been a shitty person(s) partially because of his upbringing and partly because of desperation. I like that he's never excused for his actions but he's allowed to try to make up for them. There is good in Bakool Ja Ja and I'm glad the story let him try for it.

I really like the part after the Bakool Ja Ja face turn where Wuk Lamat is like "hey, yeah, so I don't *forgive* him, I just want to give him a chance to prove himself." I needed that bit of qualification rather than just naïve acceptance.

Hey Terra, friendly lil lore reminder about the Echo, if you're interested! In Elpis, when peering into the past with Venat to see Hermes sending off the Meteia, Venat explained that there are TWO ways to use the Echo. 1. Peer into the echos within a person's soul to experience memories from their POV 2. Peer into echos of a moment imprinted upon the land. (This was how we experienced the past then, since Hermes wasn't there to echo through, and is how we viewed Galool Ja Ja bringing peace)
@terabellum5 ай бұрын
That's right I had forgotten! However, I still strongly believe the person behind that tree triggered these memories for us. Take special note of their feet (appears to be a roegadyn in sandals with white tattoos.) I'm sure they'll show up again soon!
@karlrassmann46045 ай бұрын
@@terabellum Ah, I never noticed the feet! Neato-o Feet-o! :D
@camiart_casual5 ай бұрын
This is true! But we also needed Venat's help to use the second kind, and so far the WoL has shown no ability to do this by themself. So Terra's theory is still pretty sound!
@karlrassmann46045 ай бұрын
@@camiart_casual That is true, but the reason Venat helped us was specifically because we cannot control when we use the Echo. Ancients like Venat could, so she helped us channel it purposefully.
@RothAnim5 ай бұрын
@@camiart_casual I don't know if that's true. IIRC, we saw the aftermath of Nidhogg's defeat in Heavensward without one of the memory-holders present (unless maybe we got it from Nidhogg's eye?) I do think the fact we can't control it is why Venat helped us in Elpis.

dont forget to add that you cant even buy the vouchers that you buy the mount with until you max out the fates in all areas in dawntrail first which is over 400 fates in itself!! 😇 i think its better to think of it as a long term reward for daily fate grinding rather than aiming to get it. might take you a year or so but at least you get something cool in a year or so good news the vouchers sell for lots of money on the MB so you might be better off just selling them and buying a bunch of other mounts you want more from vendors or the MB with the money. or if youre rich you can buy some vouchers and grind the rest and get the mount with it that way (you can make the money back up by selling vouchers anyway)
@TerenceLight5 ай бұрын
@@MidnightEkaki: You can’t buy the vouchers directly right away, but you can get them off the market board (going for about 130k a pop in my area). What I did was used my gems on the vouchers from Endwalker (still selling for about 100k or so), sell them on the MB, and put that profit towards buying Turali Vouchers until I unlocked the Turali Vouchers directly. It’s definitely a long-term grind; I’m going at it a small bit at a time and have 171/500 right now.

Eugenics is such a horrifying concept. In our world, it was disproven years ago, but not before it was used as the basis for human atrocity. In a world like Hydaelyn where it's not just a concept, but proven fact? It leads to the Mamool Ja. There's a mamool ja mother in Tuliyollal lifting her child up into the air to play with him. Children are precious to the mamool ja, so imagine the pain of conceiving generations of them, knowing most will die in the shell... This was such a heavy part of the MSQ for those who were paying attention.

In some ways, Bakool Ja Ja's story is that of the Dawntnail story-skipper, who eventually realises that it's all about the story. "Why should I bother with any of this? I can cheat my way to the goal, leaving Sopermariocart bombs in my wake?" he says, not realising that it is the journey, and not the goal, that matters.

Echo memories are memories etched on the aether, either of a person's soul or on a place. We've experienced both in our journey and Venat explained it outright quickly in EW. Someone pointed out something interesting to me the other day. The two things Wuk Lamat can't handle are heights and water and what happened when she was 3? She was pushed from a great height into a cenote. 🤔 I think the biggest qualification Wuk Lamat has that the others lack is that she's the only one who wants to listen to what her people want. Everyone else has decided what they think is best and wants to tell them what they want.

I loved your reaction to the Mamool Ja just walking away when you first try talking to them. I pretty much did the same thing. Bakool Ja Ja's speech about what his tribe was doing really stole the show for me, because I just didn't see it coming. He was the last person I was expecting to feel pity for, but he deeply deserved it on a level that I can't even put into words. I honestly felt it when he said he never should have been born, and how he wanted the deaths to stop. In fact, the whole scene was so heart-felt and emotional I felt bad for laughing at him when he ran away after the fight with Wuk Lamat.

Wuk Lamat certainly has Anime-Protagonist energy but I think she is a really good character in her own way! She seeks to understand everyone, no matter how great the divide may seem. Also, if I remember correctly, didn't Galuf Baldesion die when the Isle of Val sank? It is very unlikely that he still alive somewhere I think. Not impossible, given this is FFXIV, but still. I am also very glad I am not the only one who got tricked by the game concerning....certain things. It will make for a true WTF-moment when the truth is revealed XD.
