Salute my pops was in Salinas 98/99 and it was a very active yard for just being opened.He Ran Indian but was cool with the Southerners.them yards stayed locked down for Northerners and Southerners.

It’s interesting hearing how racially divided American prisons are. In Australia certain races stick together but you can easily mix with other races without any dramas. You can freely sit with other races without any problems. You can eat, work out, share a cell, with others and nobody bats an eyelid.. That being said we do have some prisons where races are separated into different wings like at Goulburn where you have entire wings specifically for Aboriginal, Middle Eastern, Pacific Islanders, and Anglo Saxons (white fellas). It’s a policy called ethnic clustering which is actually causes ethic tensions rather than diffusing situations. It’s a divide and conquer technique because instead of prisoners being united against the guards and the system, they are at each other’s throats.
