I prefer wrap-ups because I don't like getting in-depth information before I read the books. I appreciate getting a general overview and whether or not you like it so I'm surprised by the contents more and can form my own thoughts about the story. Once I've already read a book, I like watching the vlogs to see if I agree with the vlogger's thoughts or not. :) Either way, thanks for sharing!

Instead of Cage of Souls, check out his trilogy, Children of Time. Its a fascinating sci fic that goes into the idea of how, if we could create a nano virus that controlled the evolutionary process in another species, what that might look like. I read A Wizard's Guide to Defensive Baking after seeing your review earlier this month, and I really enjoyed it. I'm in my 50's, so a middle grade book isn't often something I'll pick up, but this one wasn't written childishly. Sort of like I felt about Harry Potter - the story is about kids, but the writing is a more adult voice, though accessible to kids. Also, I wish you were reading Dresden faster, lol. My favorite won't come up til June, and I'm antsy to see your reactions. 😊

Wow, you DNF'd Cage of Souls! That was my first Tchaikovsky book which got me started on reading his stuff, I loved the world building and the narrative style was very Book of The New Sun. It gets progressively better believe me, but this reminds me that Fantasy heavy readers and Sci-Fi heavy readers are definitely not the same thing, I haven't found anyone who relates to both equally. I'm more into Sci-Fi than Fantasy though I read both and most of my DNF's are Fantasy, but maybe that's just me.

Reading vlogs are weird for me. I rarely feel compelled to click on them, but whenever you end up doing a non-spoiler video/review about one specific book I always watch them. When it’s a spoiler review I basically never watch because we’re never reading the same things. I think I just like the videos in front of the bookcase more, though I couldn’t fully tell you why. If non spoiler reviews aren’t in the cards, these sorts of videos seem like a nice gesture for people like me. Thanks Merphy!

Re Cage of Souls, I've found that with Adrian Tchaikovsky before. First time I tried to read Empire of black and gold, struggled massively to get in to it (there's an awful lot of world building going on), had to step away and go for something else (a bit of mental flossing), went back to it and something clicked that didn't the previous time. As for Eric, I think Pratchett just wanted to get Rincewind out of where he sent him to in Sourcery. He's got 2 more books Interesting Times and The Last Continent and he needed some way of getting him back in play.

Unfortuanlly I'm not to Proven Guilty, but I just started the Dresden Files Last week from beginning to end of the first book and waiting on the second book from the Library. Read it far faster than I expected, so now I offically going to leave one slot for my TBR "rotation" to have a Dresden File book until I finished, with my other slot be anything I chose. While third and fourth slot will be buddy reads with friends if there is any. I'm not going to add anymore than four in total (unless there's a extreamly high chance there's a third case of buddy read which is rare. Two had been the limit thus far.) But Enjoyed Storm Front as it reminded me of the urban fantasy my mom read once in the humor and she would talk about with my aunt. (she hadn't read Dresden before but she was intrested in the premises when I told her about it) so I was able to understand Harry's pov into it. (still working on Deerskin but 8 size font being pretty small margines between the lines is something I have to re-learn I'm noticing. I am however on ch 32 out of 37, so I'm getting there.)

Sons of Darkness sounds like fun, and that is a beautiful book design. The pronunciation is more like ma-ha-bear-it-ah, so it took me a moment to get what you were saying, but I would love to see how a First Law style narrative fits into that mythology.
@mukeshangrish9 ай бұрын
The real pronunciation is actually mā-hā-bhā-rata. You only pronounce the “ā” like the english a but not the simple a. So essentially “r” and “t” in māhābhārata are pronounced like individual letters even they there is an “a” tailing them, which is called a schwa. “r” is still like the english r but the t is much closer to the french t. So if I had to write the pronunciation in English like you did, it would be maa-haa-bhaa-r-uh-t-uh.
