Thanks for the lovely video. I'm backing the super deluxe version, even though I'm probably only gonna play it solo. I'm just a sucker for deluxifications. At least I don't have to worry about running out of sheets, scratch off cards, stamp markers or pumpkins 😁 I'm hoping IV Studios or the BGG community will come up with some sort of campaign mode/ challenges in the future (other than the seeded gams via the app)

I am fascinated by the gameplay and the game looks so beautiful. But it also feels incredibly overproduced which shows in the very steep price. $70 (ex shipping) for a flip and write is just too much, if you ask me. Those chunky dice, the scratch off cards, the fancy markers.

oh 100% agreed-IV studio certainly overproduces all their games (tbh im a fan of it lol) but it's definitely a steeper price tag to consider! it doesn't need the thick dice/scratch offs etc....(but i irresponsibly want it 🤣🤣🤣)

If the pumpkin you're roasting is thick, it's going to take a long time to cook! I found your review helpful, especially the part about the game forcing you to choose a certain action for the duration of the game. I noticed this right away when I started watching a solo PT of the game: the player just kept doing double mining actions whenever he could. In another PT (two-player game) one player was focused pretty much exclusively on chopping and doing no mining or tending at all. For me, this makes the game slightly less appealing, even though you can spend resources in a myriad of ways. I'm on the fence at the moment and may end up joining the (currently) 480 people backing at the $1 level. Glad to see you and your friends enjoyed the game!

Pumpkin! As predominantly a solo player, I find these x and write solitaire games fun because of the combo/engine building nature. You get to go at your own pace and there really aren't any stressful decisions that make you second guess your previous actions. Excited for Tend and this project!

Also not a fan of the x and write genre, but this one hooked me when I playtested it last week. Seems like there's a ton of replay value in this. IV Studios seems like they hit another homerun for me (for the most part) and I'm a day one backer.

I feel exactly like you mentioned in the video as someone who's never been even curious of flip n write stuff this gives me hope 😂 but I'm immediately thinking of running out of scratch offs and ink in the markers 😅😅😅 but it looks beautifully fun

@@aaronbeninati-kp1gd The game comes with 200 copies of the player boards and scratch offs, so at 6 players, you'd have to play it a TON to run out.

@@aaronbeninati-kp1gd There should be plenty of included scratch offs (100 with 50 KS bonus at min up to 200 in the deluxe edition) but they are also making an app to simulate the scratch offs. I'm also a little worried about the markers, but the deluxe edition comes with 6 of each color and an set of each color is only $8, so I think it's safe... most likely

Pumpkin. I am going to watch more reviews, I am impressed with all the cool combos that could happen in this, but I definitely would like to see more player engagent, especially if they are going ro have the potential of a 12 plyr game.

Huge fan of this one. I've play tested it quite a bit and loved seeing it go through all the changes it did! IV did a great job making this a balanced game with a truly wide decision space. The variant you mentioned to partner with people sounds fun, but I think it would be tough to balance and would exponentially increase the playtime as people would haggle over helping each other. It has absolutely blown me away and has completely revived the "X and Write" genre for me, which I also was never a fan of. Man oh MAN is this a good game!

that's the best way to find out if it's a good fit-playtest! and you bring up a really solid argument against the semi-co op because now I can definitely see that mechanic getting abused and pushed towards a negotiation game when it's certainly not.....hmmm i wonder if there's a way to address the player interaction overall! but either way, happy to see you're excited for it and hope the final copy gets to you soon!

My only concern with the physical version is it seems pretty easy to accidentally reveal adjacent tiles on the scratch off cards, which is a problem when the upgrade squares are color coded. I'm hoping they make the borders around the squares thicker to combat this.

They mentioned on their livestream today that they're aware of this concern and will be doing just this for the final version.

that's a good point! i rewatched some of the b roll we filmed and realized i scratched off too much and it revealed more squares! maybe they'll have a narrower coin by the end or i'll just have to be more careful when playing the final game ...or your thicker borders is a much more practical solution!
