@@stubie7465 new model is the gen 2 so it would be 8HP50 or 8HP75 eBay it yourself mate. Nobody runs the second gen anyway as it’s a waste of money really the only difference is a bit more strength, turbo lamik recommends first gen as it’s cheaper and more available.

I am an old school lad, manual box only........until I got my 330d with a ZF8 (mapped 0-60 in 4.7 on my Racebox !! ), it was the first auto I actually loved, the first Auto that just made sense and that I felt in control of all the time, we also have an F25 3 litre with the ZF8 for the wife, I also now have an Alfa Quadrifoglio also fitted with the glorious ZF8, where it also works brilliantly. I am now looking at buying my next race car with the ZF instead of a manual ! This Supra is awesome, absolutely epic :)

My ram 1500 has the zf 8hp75 and it is the nicest transmission I have ever driven everyone is always amazed of the power it puts down and the smooth shifting and rapid shifting

Let's be Real!! With that Gearbox that thing is quicker than a 1000hp 6spd car!! There's just no falling off boost, or inefficient shifting. It keeps that engine and turbocharger in it's peak efficiency window.

You need more cut, and sounds to me like you need to wait for the gearbox sync before letting go of the cut. You're fighting converter lockup and hurting the clutch packs in the long term. Proper low power cut should be timing retard only, WOT cuts need injector cut with the timing being brought in gradually as the gearbox reaches sync for converter lockup. It all happens very fast, but in your case too fast, which is why you get that oldschool slushbox effect at WOT, which is in fact the torque converter trying to lock up and screaming for it's dear life. Seems to me that you are only performing injector/ignition cut. There is way too much torque being applied as the converter is trying to lock up. It might seem counter intuitive, but more/longer cut is faster, as the gearbox will sync quicker.

Yes, the ZF is in a LOT of cars: Bentley, Lamborghini, etc. etc. I believe hardware is near identical across them all with overriding differences being how the manufacturer has tuned it!

What torque converter does this use? Dodge users have a couple spendy options, but I've found zero feedback on their forums. The stock 8HP70 converter is only 2000rpm stall (for a V8) which is worse than stock MKIV's A340 of 2600 rpm. I've asked @WHIFTBITZ numerous times over the last 12 months with no answer. Also seems they still can't get the transbrake/launch feature figured out on the TurboLamik over a year later. Besides low speed driveability, the primary reason to get this 8HP over a DCT is better launches. This 8HP setup seems to give worse launches than a stock A340. I want to be proven wrong because the only other option is a 6R80. Much better trans than the 8HP70 which needs a $6000 USD rebuild to hold anything over 500 rw torque, but the only adapter plate available for the 6R80 (nothing else included) is $6,500 USD from phr. Lol nope.

TCU Turbolamik controller has transbrake option. It works by pressing the accelerator pedal while holding down the transbrake button. The engine maintains the preset rpm and the transmission is ready in second gear but the clutches lock it up until you release the transbrake button. When you release it, the gearbox will start in second gear. Ask for details at Turbolamik. This gearbox controller is very popular in Poland. It is most often combined with 2JZ engines and old BMW engines.
