Great conversation, Bob. It struck me that you attribute much of your success to being smooth and efficient and meticulous preparation. I think it's no coincidence that you and so many of the great match anglers are from an engineering background. Engineering requires discipline, planning, adaptability and efficiency, which are all vital qualities in match angling.

Shook Bob's hand once after winning a raffle at a roadshow in about 1992 ?, I actually shook the same hand that lifted the world championship. Bob is an even warmer, friendlier person in real life than he appears on here. Unbelievable but true

Same here. I fished at the Browning Warhorse event (it was for those who own older Browning poles). I won a margin pole in the raffle and Bob presented it to me. He chatted to everyone for ages afterwards. Top bloke.
