This Fitna [trial] arose as a struggle over who had the legitimate right to become the ruling Caliph. The dispute shattered the unity of the Ummah and resulted in the permanent division of Islam into rival sects.

The Prophet (ﷺ) passed by `Ammar and removed the dust off his head and said, "May Allah be merciful to `Ammar. He will be killed by a rebellious aggressive group. `Ammar will invite them to (obey) Allah and they will invite him to the (Hell) fire." Sahih al-Bukhari 2812.

Narrated to us Qutaybah ibn Sa`id and Muḥammad ibn `Abbad, and they converged in saying, they said “Narrated to us Ḥatim, and he is the son of Isma`il, from Bukayr ibn Mismar, from `Amir ibn Sa`d ibn Abi Waqqaṣ, from his father, he said “Mu`awiyah ibn Abi Sufyan appointed Sa`d (as the Governor), then said: “What prevents you from abusing Abu Turab (`Ali),” whereupon be said: “It is because of three things which I remember Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said about him that I would not abuse him and even if I find one of those three things for me, it would be dearer to me than the red camels. I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say about `Ali as he left him behind in one of his campaigns (that was Tabuk). `Ali said to him: “Allah's Messenger, you leave me behind along with women and children.” Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to him: “Aren't you satisfied with being unto me what Aaron was unto Moses but with this exception that there is no Prophet-hood after me?” And I (also) heard him say on the Day of Khaybar: “I would certainly give this standard to a person who loves Allah and his Messenger, and Allah and his Messenger love him too.” He (the narrator) said: “We had been anxiously waiting for it, when he (the Prophet) said: “Call `Ali.” He was called and his eyes were inflamed. They mentioned `Ali, and Mu`awiyah criticized him. Sa`d became angry and said: “Are you saying this of a man of whom I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: “Whom I am a Mawla (Friend, Master, etc.) of, then `Ali is his Mawla.” And I heard him say: “You are to me like Harun was to Musa, except that there is no Prophet after me.” And I heard him say: “I will give the banner today to a man who loves Allah and His Messenger.”””””

I’m a Muslim just a Muslim not Shia or Sunni that’s all political. May Allah bless the souls of the sahaba (ra) that lost their lives during that hard time of deception how the enemy split us from the inside is sad and the affects remain till this day we went wrong when we wanted to avenge only allah is the real avenger we should have stuck to the deen and our khalifa Ali (RA) the real winner is Hassan for giving the khalifa to muwaiyah shows he put Islam before any position this dunya can offer him even amir Ul mumineen may Allah bless him ❤️🙌🙏

I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say about `Ali as he left him behind in one of his campaigns (that was Tabuk). `Ali said to him: “Allah's Messenger, you leave me behind along with women and children.” Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said to him: “Aren't you satisfied with being unto me what Aaron was unto Moses but with this exception that there is no Prophet-hood after me?” And I (also) heard him say on the Day of Khaybar: “I would certainly give this standard to a person who loves Allah and his Messenger, and Allah and his Messenger love him too.” He (the narrator) said: “We had been anxiously waiting for it, when he (the Prophet) said: “Call `Ali.” He was called and his eyes were inflamed. I highly recommend Yasir Qadhi's lecture series on the Sererah which has 100+ lectures at over 100 hours. He also has a separate lecture series just as big on the Sahaba with hour long lectures on one Sahabi on some major and minor Sahabas. He has about 5-10 hours each on Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman and Ali that especially sheds light on the background and context of the First Fitna.

Tareekh Khalifah ibn Khayyat page 182: يا أيها الناس أتنصتون؟ فجعلوا يركبونه ولا ينصتون، فما زادأن قال: أف أف فراش نار He (Talha radiallahuanhu) was shouting to the angry people: “O people will you listen?” and they started riding their horses and camels ignoring him so he complained angrily: “Uff! Uff! You are like moths heading to the fire” In brief the scholars and historians agree on the role of the Sabains in starting the battle whether they called them “the corrupt elements” or “the thugs from both parties” or “the killers of ‘Uthman” or “al-Sufahaa” or openly calling them“al-Sabaiyyah” ‘Ali told his caller to call: “O people cease the fighting” but he was ignored and the battle raged on and it was divided into two rounds, the first round was from Fajr to Zuhr and the leaders of the army of Basarah were Talha and al-Zubair as recorded in al-Khulafaa al-Rashidun by al-Khalidi page 245. ‘Ali and Talha and al-Zubair called on their men: لا تقتلوا مدبرًا، ولا تُجهزوا على جريح، ولا تلحقوا خارجًامن المعركة تاركًا لها “Do not kill anyone who turned his back to you, do not finish-off the wounded, do not follow those who flee the battle.”

Much of the setting and historical context will naturally be missing when dealing with said situations, since a lot can happen in a short time, and not everything will be documented which will naturally affect one's perception of it in hindsight. With that said, I can't understand why Ali (RA) didn't himself go to Aisha (RA) and Muawiya (RA) - sending messengers can go either way, as he discovered with Muawiya. This was a major crisis, and there was a need for damage control, but also unambiguity considering what was at stake. Also, I'm not entirely sure why he gathered an army against Muawiya. If all Muawiya wanted was to avenge Uthman (RA), then Ali should have colluded with him, identify the murderers and just take them out. That sounds a lot easier than to gather 120k men to fight 90k men, all of whom are brethren, and spill a lot of blood in the process. It looks like there were a number of strategical mishaps, and ample miscommunication - Although vision is always 20/20 in hindsight. In any case, they are in the divine courts now, so we'll leave it at that.

@@adamsuniverse2045 Both those questions you asked yourself are deeply incorrect, the first female to accept islam is Khadija as and the first male to accept islam is Ali ibn abi Taleb as (at the age of 13) They both prayed with the prophet pbuhap 7 years before anyone did. You seem to forget Allah swt commanded Muhammad pbuhap to introduce islam to his tribe before making it public. The second question, I do not know but highly doubt Allah swt sent his salam to the one who caused the death of Fatima as, the master of all women of paradise. The one Allah swt sent as a gift to Muhammad pbuhap (surah al kawthar)
