CLASSIC!!!! When he hit that first long note, he made his MAMA feel it, and with PRIDE she forgot where she was and who was around her and jumped to her feet saying THAT'S MY BABY!!!! Tears drop from my eyes because I know that there is no greater feeling than making your Ma/Dad that proud of you!❤ I take this personally because both of my parents are gone... I miss and love them so much and if I could go back in time to the points in my life where I made them feel this way, I would be so happy! He hit that first note drawing courage and strength from his mother and she immediately stood up and sent that MOTHER'S LOVE straight to her son!

How he keeps looking and shawty in the red like (bi@ch, u dun f'd up now) 3. After Eddie kisses her, dude behind her stops awkwardly clapping and is in awe like: WTF? 4. Flash having a moment realization. 5. Big Red's eyes lighting up with money signs like Mr. Krabs 6. Some random dude in the back (around the -1.00 mark) yelling out something like "That Bass is killing it"

What I find so amazing is, I saw this in the theater 4 times- each time, theater was empty except maybe 1-4 other people, plus the people that I'd bought with me (putting them on), so the fact that's its now deemed a culture classic makes me ecstatic, because back then with the very low theater firm out, I was afraid many would miss out on its excellence, which would've been a shame!

My experience as well when I first saw it. The theater was practically empty. Too bad the appreciation it has received now was not present back then. But....everything happens for a reason. Check out the Making of the Five Heartbeats documentary. It reveals so much regarding the obstacles Townsend faced in producing this classic.

I think those are always the Best ways for Serendipity to happen. An out the box hit is great but them word of mouth movies? Those the ones that are always true classics.

Eddie Cain was the MAN!!!! CLASSIC!!! I live this movie. Donnie Simpson once brought Robert Thompson to the gym at Bethesda Naval hospital back in the late 80s. You talk about a class ACT!!!! ROBERT TOWNSEND!!!! 👍🏿
