so true. I am seeing a lot of junk jewelry on Etsy. the ad says 14kt gold and what a low price. then I read the description and it's plated. I'm guilty of photos. I took photos the other day and they were all horrible. I deleted them all. I do have chunky jewelry, but it's vintage. small audience for that , but they're out there. i kinda look at the big pieces like they are statement pieces. fashion makes its rounds. this is all good information.

I must be one of the loud bold confident woman 😂😂 i dislike danity jewellery I love bold statement pieces 👌👌and if you look at trends for 2024 big bold is IN i suppose you have to get your market right. My market is hippy, ethnic, bohemian, witchy, Ive found my niche and statement pieces sell for me, my witch wand necklaces are a hot seller, I mean what witch doesnt like a portable wand 🧙‍♀😁😁

I used to make statement jewelry more often because it sold well and because I loved making it, but now, these past two years, I can't sell anything bigger (more expensive) but only the smaller pieces if I'm lucky. I guess it all depends on the off-site traffic. Or I guess I am doing something wrong. Anyway, good for you for making it work! :D BTW, I love witchy stuff and would love to see what you sell. What is your shop's name?

Yes there will always be people that like big jewelry, but on Etsy it is not a big seller in general. Witches could be an exception!

Thank you for all of the great advice. I have a shop, Amy Winslow Jewelry. I have trouble finding my jewelry by searching under the titles and tags I am using. For example, gold star necklace with sterling silver chain. There is really no other way to describe it. I have started eliminating all tags that might put my jewelry pieces in strange categories. They are still not showing up. I can't find my ads either. I would love your advice on my shop. I have been designing for 7 years and sell to stores and I do shows and finally decided to try Etsy. there are some Etsy sellers that are pros in displaying. they use props and every photo is different. it goes with whatever she's selling. it's one of these French shops. she's selling distressed glassware. I just love looking at it. clean crisp pretty. I'd like to do my things like that. working on it. have to be creative, I think.

So, going back to the price range of selling jewelry primarly $20-40, do you not reccomend begining shops planning on primarly selling solid gold jewelry with the price range of 100-300 dollars? I could make variations of sterling silver at $40-$50 pricepoints in the same shop, but I prefer not to sell gold plated or gold filled jewelry. How would i be able to make this work?

Hi, I am a customer like he said - in my 40s, female, usually buying high class jewellery (mainly from jewellers). I just checked your store out of couriosity. From my point of view, the pictures do not do the bracelets justice. The plastic hand makes them look even more artificial, than they are. They may need hours to make - but on the pictures they look simply cheap and made of plastic (at least to me, no offence), due to the dozens of pictures all looking more/less the same. Maybe it helps, when you change the thumbnails, so you would have a variety of motives on the front page of your store. Make pictures of the bracelets being worn on your arm, so customers can imagine better how they would look like in reality. The combination of boring, artificial looking pictures and the item prices (seem high to me) puts at leat me off buying these bracelets...

I agree with juba_creative_designs. Your bracelets are really beautiful, but they need to be shown on an actual person so people can get the idea of what to wear it with, how to style it. A pain in the butt to redo photos, but worth it in the end.
