Or alternatively: 1- Boot up the game after a long time 2- Go into training mode 3- Spend all the time there trying to remember the combos and setplay you already had instead of learning the stuff you actually need to learn. 4- Get cooked online 5- "Damn I should really learn those matchups" 6- Instead of learning those matchups you just go do something else and don't play for like a month.
@maaramori34042 жыл бұрын
1 - Play for month straight. Each day you get better and better - you can even feel how your skill is growing, but at the same time each day you get more and more tired from the game to the point where you don't care what buttons you're pressing. 2 - Drop the game for 3 months. 3 - Return to the game - "Wow, I don't remember anything". Play for month straight...

The origin story unleashed! Seriously though, its great hearing the perspective of a pro player, and the struggles. As someone who is a complete online casual, watching the high end players at tournaments doesn't give much insight into the mental aspects of things. I appreciate this look inside a lot. Hearing this makes it a bit easier to get back to the grind.

I needed this. I have been going through a rough spot in Strive as my first Guilty Gear. I rose quickly with I-No I made it to floor 10 in a month and here I am 6 weeks into the game falling from floor 10 to floor 8 and it is a constant up and down. To be fair, I am still learning I-No, but sometimes I feel like I hit a ceiling and am no good. Other days I do my same old with some new techniques and it goes well and I feel great. It’s tough, but I don’t want to give up.

I haven't been playing as long as you, but these stages are evident in my development as well. It sounds like a cycle, where sometimes you have both Ego and self Confidence, sometimes neither, and sometimes only one. In this scenario I think maturity is confidence without ego aka simply doing the best you can do. Thank you for the enlightening video!

This is really helpful for me. I'm new to fighting games and got guilty gear as my first game last month. I've been really getting angry with myself because I can't get past the celestial challenge and even sometimes get rocked on floor 10 by high level people. It's been really frustrating because I want to be good at the game but I'm just not lol. Hearing someone at your level say you struggle with it too helps.

@mirror29222 жыл бұрын
Words of wisdom dont trust fighting game players advice take with a grain of salt. It wasn't a tourney scenario like what you're used too but I vividly remember playing lucky chloe ( a character I originally gave shit too in tekken 7 because of the design) over the first character which I mained Julia who happened to be a top tier. People always tell me if you like corner pressure/wall pressure just pick julia they were right she had a scary wall game. I would get smoked by players better then me consistently. Then I learned the concept of fundamentals vs party hard characters/mentality in tekken 7. So I wound up being at least competent against players that are stronger/slightly stronger than me on characters made for easily switching between fundamentals and partying with oki set ups, hurtbox maneuvering based on the high/mid/low battle mechanics including sidestepping. Fighting game advice can be so vague sometimes and I guess that might be a result of people not knowing much about the individual they are talking too. Then prattle off the closest thing that might be applicable, then state it as fact or "good" advice. The fact that you were playing and people just shit on your character saying its easy when no one else is playing the character at that level of difficulty is very annoying in present tense but funny with hindsight now. Its a very simple train of thought if character easy why not more people play it for the W? Isolate someone into that conversation and it gets real awkward the best answer is to just vibe on your own learn some core mechanics of whatever fighting game that takes your interest and roll with it.

Thanks for the origin story, super fun listen. I hope to read some cool FGC lore books in the future. There’s so much fun culture and amazing stories. Edit: I’m stagnating badly in Strive. Is Axl “top tier” enough to stick to? Also what’s your take on SF6, Should I hop into SF5 now to prep a bit or just go into SF6 cold off of Strive?

Funnily enough, if it wasn't for Android 21, I wouldn't have played DBFZ at all really - was never a big fan of team fighters. I just didn't really enjoy anyone else until Z Broly came out, and then he got added to my team BECAUSE HES SO COOL! (BUT SO DUMB!) Then I didn't really like anyone else they ever added. So my team was like: A21/Frieza/SSJ Goku Then A21/Z Broly/SSJ Goku. Then finally when Baby came out I liked him so became A21/Z Broly/Baby. Now A21 (Lab Coat) is coming out so I might re-install and try her. But if DBFZ 2 doesn't have A21 I probably won't be interested in it. (Though I regret not abusing either Bardock or GT Goku to get easy wins so I could get my Demon achievement ;_;)
