For me, as someone who read the book long before I watched the films, they left out THE best part of the book, where Thomas and Theresa are in the sewers and are being chased by deluded but still mentally present cranks, the suspense was amazing and it’s a shame they couldn’t emulate it in the movie.

But i found that the changes were getting greater in the 2nd movie to the point it wasn't even following the source material much, that was disappointing. and to be honest, I've tried to watch the 3rd movie about half a dozen times and just cant seem to get through it all... So all in all, I'm not a massive fan of the movies, but a huge fan of the books. I would certainly encourage people that love to movies to read the books, as i think they offer more, or maybe don't? if you love the movies the way they are, maybe just pass on reading the books and continue to love the movies without a chance of changing that??? So the books stay true to the plot of Wckd holding the trials over them, and essentially being the magic organization that the kids can never break free from. Rather than the movies which were essentially turned into zombie apolocalypse films. I've only read the three main books in the series and someday I'll get to reading the other two prequels. I did a movie vs book comparison of the movies and the books, (or at least, the first one. And the movie is closest to the book plot line, after that the movies basically become their own thing.) and I found myself enjoying the books far more. It was a very pleasant surprise.

It was a good movie, but visually and film wise the first one was basically what interested us more. I read all the books and I was hooked because they had good character development and gave you a real detailed description of events. The first film did a good job, but I think it did so well the next two couldn't really come close to touching it in terms of peaking your interest and curiosity. The maze was mysterious and other worldly almost. Not knowing the agenda was great, yet slowly revealing the plots. The second and third movies were just okay to me. Love the casts, especially Barry Pepper. The girl they chose to play Teresa though...it really didn't work for me. Just odd. But, it just didn't do well for me for some reason.
@mikailamihajlovic67372 жыл бұрын
yeah I mostly don't like that they made Theresa pretend to have an American accent when it was VERY clear she wasn't American, like I get canonically she's not british but the actor didn't have a good accent at all so they should've trained her or just had her speak with her normal accent

I still think the movies really butchered the cranks. It became more of your average zombie movie, while the books looked at it in much more detail. Having the virus as more of a disease that slowly ate away at the host's sanity, instead of killing them and turning them into mindless zombies. The virus takes years to turn people into zombie like creatures, where they were referred to as "past the Gone."
