I love that the writers thought the audience wouldn't be able to understand the concept that Barry can run low on energy if he doesn't eat and decided to add the smart watch meter thing, meanwhile the writers of Paul Blart Mall Cop granted the audience enough trust that they'd understand he runs out of energy when his blood sugar is low.

Also, wouldn’t a normal person go insane typing that many passwords into a computer just to find the right one? I usually get frustrated around the fifth try. And how come a highly sophisticated military computer doesn’t have an auto lock after too many tries? It’s just one scene but it already generates a buttload of inconsistencies.

"This is the film equivalent of sewing a bunch of dead bodies together and passing it off as a living human being." Has anyone pointed out yet that the black and white CG Superman cameo is George Reeves, who many believe committed suicide because he couldn't find a successful role outside of Superman and eventually began to resent the character? It was either that or murder and, either way, he has no living relatives or an estate that could sign off on this cameo in a movie released on the 64th anniversary of his death.
@AttemptedVoices
@AttemptedVoices 3 ай бұрын
Dumbsville did, he even showed what Kevin Smith had to say about it. "When I'm fucking dead, you can literally do anything." It's messed up that they did that AND the fact people can defend such a thing. Hell, he even brought up how both this and the Chip and Dale Movie made profit off of someone who was royally screwed over by their roles many years ago, just for some cheap story or cameo.

@Redbird-dh7mu
@Redbird-dh7mu 3 ай бұрын
I think the worst part is that Barry 1 gave up so fucking quickly when he didn’t have to. In Flashpoint, which also features a plot where the Flash saving his mother causes major differences in the timelines, the reason why Barry can’t just go back in time and keep on resetting is because, as a character put it, “Break the sound barrier, make a sonic boom. Break the time barrier, make a time boom”, which basically means that a lot of points in history have changed slightly that eventually goes so out of control that there are massive differences. Superman doesn’t land in the same place, Bruce dies instead of his parents, and so on. This means that Barry can’t just keep going back and changing the timeline to get his perfect timeline. Meanwhile, in this movies no such rule is ever established and there isn’t an in character reason for him to just not keep on trying instead of standing there and doing nothing while Barry 2 does his thing. Like, the Flash should never just give up like that. These are still people and have lives. Flashpoint basically forced Barry into letting his mother die because it was that or everyone dies. Meanwhile, this Barry is like, “Damn, I failed twice, I have to let my mom die now I guess.”

"This is an inevitable intersection!" Says Barry from a timeline/universe/whatever where THIS DID NOT HAPPEN, and should therefore know that this is not inevitable. "But moving the can of tomatoes made it inevitable," I can hear someone say, and that I need to point out how stupid that sounds shows how broken that thought process for the tomato can was. Oh good lord I just realized this entire movie is an overlong explanation of the phrase, "opening a can of tomatoes."

This movie went through a multitude of rewrites, by the way. One of them was done by Grant Morrison - ya know, the guy who wrote All Star Superman, considered to be one of the best comic book writers in the industry and author of the best Superman comic ever. Yeah, the studio just vetoed that one out of the gate even when the insane deadline was met. Even worse, Ezra Miller was the one that got that rewrite done to begin with - the one good idea they had since it was obvious this movie always had problems.

They could’ve fixed like 75 percent of the time travel logic issues if they just said “when Barry time travels it damages the timeline” or something and that’s why things are different. For me, stuff like power inconsistency in superhero movies falls under a category I call "grey life damage." It's a term from Street Fighter, where certain moves will cause a portion of your health bar to turn grey rather than just disappear. The grey life will slowly come back over time, so if you successfully defend yourself for a bit, it won't matter. But if you take any other damage during that time, the grey life vanishes all at once in addition to whatever normal damage you would take, and you're _way_ worse off. In other words, "grey life damage" is mistakes that _do not matter_ if the rest of the movie is good. But if the rest of the movie is bad, they are yet another thing to get annoyed by, just as real as all the other annoyances. And fuck me, does this movie have a lot of shit to get annoyed at.

Yeah, I can understand changing how the speed forces works from this film/Justice League for plot conviniece/looking cool. Even tho it's complicating stuff I can accept Flash time shenanigans actually makes him go to another timeline. but when the climax of the film makes the Speed force a room for no reason, Flash 1/2 time travels to the "same" timeline and in general the plot is a mess filled with fake emotions that dont land any "because cool factor/the plot needs to happen" becomes another nail in the tomb

Not to mention, when you set up a time travel movie where the characters jump from universe to universe, they become incredibly selfish. Flash just ditches his original timeline and all of the people in it. Their flash is gone, never to return, and he wont be there to help save them from future catastropies. Flashes original mom is still dead too. He just became a squatter in a universe where another version of her is still alive. Is flash so sociopathic that inhabiting a universe filled with copies of his friends that have had different life experiences is ok? Thats unironically how Rick Sanchez acts.

another thing about Barry guessing all the passwords to a computer (especially one from this generation) is that the limiting factor is the clock cycle speed of the processor. Barry essentially can't go faster than the computer can work. So somehow, Barry is working this computer at supercomputer speeds but it's just an old piece of junk. That's speedforce, baby

I prefer the timeline explanation from the animated movie: if you break the sound barrier, you create a sonic boom (except Flash doesn't, actually), and if you break the time barrier, you create a time boom that causes chaotic changes both forward and backward in time. That gives a much better excuse for not time-travelling to solve every problem, instead of randomly saying "nah it's fate bro".
@-Azure.EXE-

It also created consequences of time travel so it can't just be used as a crutch to fix any situation, only being a fallback plan when literally everything else fails because its consequences are so dire that it's only a last resort option at best that everyone would prefer never to have to use. So trying to fix one thing giga-screws over billions other things to the point of Flashpoint paradoxing is always a terrible idea no matter what.

Not really. They translated the nonsense. Flashpoint effectively said much the same. "When you break the sound barrier, you create a sonic boom. When you break the time barrier, you create a time boom." That was Eobard's description in Flashpoint about how Barry altered the past before his mother's death. It still didn't make any sense. A sonic boom doesn't create a reality fissure. A "time boom" just sounds like utter garbage. The issue is, as Adum says, Flash is a broken character because the comic writers just pursued the idea that he could run through time. He's no longer an actual speedster, he's just a nonsense chronokinetic who can do whatever the writers want, even if the writers don't know how to make use of him. Flashpoint was just a novelty act for DC to reboot the world yet again, before going on to reboot it 2 or 3 more times by now. People only liked it because it gave effectively an alternate version of Earth 3, except Thomas Wayne is still a mostly good Batman compared to Owlman being an evil Batman. It really wasn't a good story. Personally, I'd say the last solid story DC did was Blackest Night.

I find it hilarious that this film's core conceipt, the main driving force of the conflict, is that THE FLASH, aka probably the most OP superhero, can't figure out how to beat a bunch of dunces in spacesuits. I mean, sure, sure. Kryptonians are strong. But evil flash is literally covered in anti-Kryptonian material which disables them. And even if he wasn't, HE'S THE FLASH. They're still 1% as fast as he is. He can literally kill them all in a fraction of a second. AND THERE'S 2 OF HIM TOO. There's no way 2 Flashes wouldn't beat Zod's motley crew. Forget supergirl. Forget batman. You have 2 speedsters! Against an army with 0 ways to counter frigging speedsters!

I don’t see why using the Speed Force as the explanation for a fictional character who’s powers comes from a cosmic thing is a problem. Superman explanation is the sun radiation, Moon Knight explanation is the Egyptian Moon God, Black Panther explanation is the Egyptian Panther God, Spider-Man explanation is a spider bite, and Wolverine/ All Mutants explanation are their genes. Why The Flash having a simple explanation such as the Speed Force is something ppl can’t accept?

@@someguy198 The Flash powers had always been consistent I’ll agree and say the Flash movie was poor at showcasing what all he can do. But my problem is with ppl who act like the Speed Force is a terrible reason for why he can do what he can. It’s a source for his powers and is the reason. What’s next GL can’t have his ring and lantern be the source of his powers, or Hulk can’t have gamma radiation be the source of his powers, or Wolverine can’t have his mutant x gene be the source of his powers? It’s a stupid and dumb thing to get upset about because to them that’s not a reason. In the comics Barry rarely runs into the speed force to time travel since he had a cosmic treadmill he made to take his speed so he can run through time easily. Since he couldn’t do it whenever he wanted at first and the cosmic treadmill was his easy access to reach the speed enough to go into the speed force. And like in the comics he did it accidentally once in the movie and before in the JL movie which is constant with how speedster find out they can time travel if they aren’t learning from another speedster. Even in the DCEU his powers was constant, the only thing that wasn’t was he time travel standing still which was stupid and I’m glad they didn’t bring it back. But the time travel way in the Flash movie should’ve been erased and just had him running instead of standing still or having that sphere.
