The British never fail me. I just want to talk about how well done this movie was in every way. I love the concern of the higher-ups versus those below them. It's funny that in American films. It's always the opposite way around. The leaders are the ones that have to be convinced of the dangers and those Underneath them have to try and convince the leaders of the dangers. I enjoyed the the characters and their acting, the swiftness of the movie during boring parts, the storyline and also the cinematography. It's just one of those movies that hit me in all the right places. Was not a typical disaster film in any way.

I think one thing we should all remember is that in catastrophes of this scale, it is impossible for any government to save everyone. They will try, but more than likely fail. We should all be ready to save ourselves. The fewer people the government HAS to save, the more that will be saved.
@jamesrouillardjas16718 ай бұрын
Excellent observation. Of course it’s easy to critique from an armchair - but some of the chief characters don’t seem to have much common sense. . . I can’t guarantee l would be rational in their place but screaming her husband’s name into the storm after he dives in to find another boat seems ludicrous. How could he possibly hear her - and she suggested going back (swimming?) to the barrier!

Most governments around the world can’t even handle a homeless crisis so a catastrophic climate crisis yea there’s no way they could handle anything of this magnitude but we still pay our taxes! Look what the American government did for the East Palestine Ohio train disaster, that town is basically homeless but the government can send 100’s of billions over seas for a proxy war!

My favorite actor ; love when he played Hercules Poirot. This movie has me holding my breath. The traffic jam reminds me of New York City; when the terrorists hit the TWIN TOWERS. I worked in a Manhattan supermarket. We closed the doors. We were locked for hours. Finally , we were able to leave. I lived in The Bronx. Usually it's a 40 minutes ride. It took 2 hours. The first thing I did call my kids and my parents in Puerto Rico. I turn the TV on, saw the Twin towers falling. I cried. Just thinking about it now , makes me so emotional. Every one stay safe. Greetings from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷

No spoilers! Man, this movie was great! And tense! It's just long, and for movies these days it's a welcome change. Great sound, great script, and from my perspective it hits all the buttons in terms of human relationships, commitments, race against time, sympathy, empathy, close calls, etc, and I think for the most part it was realistic. And finally, the use of potty language was kept to an absolute minimum. I say Bravo to that!! I would pay to see this on a giant screen, as long as it had an intermission. 👍
@srmll62172 жыл бұрын
An intermission might ruin the momentum but I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID. I'M STILL TENSE! Superbly crafted: One of the best "disaster", "human relationship" "non-political" "inspiring" films I've seen in years. Great script, great cast, great production design, just GREAT all around!

Robert Carlyle's character on Once Upon was the only reason I ever watched the show. I'd watched the pilot out of boredom, was happily snarking about the costumes (the evil queen shops for wardrobe in a sex shop? well, why not) and had already crossed it off my "watch this" list ... and then suddenly there's Rumpelstilskin, all twitchy and devious and huge, weird eyes, sizzling with nervous energy. Hooked.

David read the entire King James version of the Bible in the Jerusalem room at Westminster Abbey. He has a wonderful voice for reading. It's the room where King James had the Bible translated from the original Aramaic, Hebrew and Greek. Bring up KZbin, type in : David Suchet reads the Bible

This movie is so good. I cried a lot when Professor Morrison started to apologize to his son... Until his death. Very true we shouldn't take anyone for granted, the family, the friends, workmates or neighbors you never know what can happen within a minute. And mostly.... We should always listen to what others have to say, no matter what wrong they did before, they might be bad at something, but will be heroes at something... Just like Professor, people called him obsessed and crazy coz he failed his family but look now..

Another mention, no bad guys to make matters worse as is usual with American made films. Americans rely on bad guys to make situations worse. But this film proves you can make an incredible movie without swearing, guns and bad guys.

I remember watching this show on television in Canada, don't know when though. The frustration of waiting for the following evening to watch the next episode drove me crazy, thankfully it was only four nights. This was so much better being able to watch all the way through and being able to take pause it when I needed to. Watching it a second time around was just as good as the first time, actually was better than the first time. No commercials and a superb TV movie in one show. Now I know it is here, I will be watching it again. Anybody thinking of watching it, get the popcorn out, cast the movie to your television and get comfortable. British TV at its best.

Wonderful national disaster story. Great storytelling, you are kept on the edge as the tension builds and the clock is ticking. The scenes are riveting, we admire the bravery of the people in charge of the safety and those involved in predicting the direction of the tidal wave. I cried at the end for the person who sacrificed his life for the safety of London.

@Notsure R 🤣! Sounds like you have had a Florida Experience! The movie did frighten me... and you are right about the opening scenes [kept me on the edge of my seat throughout] Mom dying had me in tears right off the bat. Remember from childhood Hurricane Camille when exactly that happened, and Katrina, too. Authorities tell everyone to have tools to break out attic windows or a saw to make a hole in roofs to escape rising waters. Storm Surge evacuation from Irma- and one must leave in time... because there is NO ONE who can rescue you. One Hurricane Season a giant Frog the size of my hand came up through the plumbing UPSTAIRS and escaped out the Toilet! I required both hands to capture it!
