As a person responsible for procuring many tons of hay for 42 horses on 15 acres for many years & managing the resultant tons of heavy wet waste, yeah, the Ark is an insane idea. For anyone familiar with pig poo, you cannot wash the smell off with soap. We used to have Conventions in Tucson right after the Circus. Even after heavy sanitizing the smell of elephant was overpowering. Next time you go to the Zoo, watch the elephants take & leak & unload a mountain of poo. Its staggering! In an inclosed ark box the smell & methane would have been eye watering, possibly to the point of passing out! Thanks for having the courage to call out gods lack of character. Yup. Everything you pointed out on this podcast makes absolute sense. The reason why many choose to believe in the Bible and seek out a new religion after leaving the JW Cult, is on the basis of Hope. There’s nothing wrong with having hope because after learning the truth about this cult, having to face your mortality is super hard to accept. Especially for those of us that believed well into the golden years of our lives. At 56 waking up over a year ago, I’m still finding it a challenge knowing I only have so many years left forgoing higher education, settling down with someone and having children. Robbed on the basis of fulfilling those things in the new system. The Noah story is a event I always couldn’t believe let alone the Adam and Eve Fable. As for belief in a God, I’m happy being a agnostic. Excellent podcast and many thanks.
@markhaskins81792 жыл бұрын
It's sad to read your comment, knowing you missed out and now feel as if it's too late. That CULT has destroyed the lives of so many people and the whole "wait for the next life" nonsense is defeatist. I left them behind and didn't look back, was told in the new system nobody will need pilots (I was one for many years) and they really wanted me to fail but I took the exams and a middle finger up to those evil eight control freaks, it felt so good, liberating. They are also responsible for removing so many people from believing the Bible due to their absolutely insane doctrines and high control, petty mindedness and constant making you feel as if what you give (time and money) is never enough. I do believe in a next life and the Bible but that does not stop me having a great time now, I make the most of it and I'm only a few years younger than you. Go for it, whatever you want just think positively and what you want might become a reality.

So how the hell did Jehovah expect to get different results this time??? As they multiplied and spread out AGAIN, inevitably you'll start to have more evil men, they'll get together into cities, etc, and before you know it mankind is right back to where he started! Just a small clarification: You kept referring to Noah having to preach to 7 Billion people all over the world. In fact, the world’s population did not reach that level until very recently. Back in Noah’s day, the world population was somewhere between 6 million at the low end to around 30 million at the high end of estimates.

Thank you Phil! I agree that the flood story is present in many religions and cultures and I'm not personally against the idea that some small flood happened in ancient history that got built into a full blown fairy tale. Often ancient cultures took a regional event and with limited knowledge of the planet, called it 'global' and built lots of details around what effected them personally.

How does the GB or elder or MS, or any believing JW reconcile the promise god made to not destroy us again? I remember in Sunday school there was a giant mural with a rainbow and the phrase, “ God keeps his promises” written boldly underneath. I remember feeling some comfort that at least he’s not going to kill everyone like in Noah’s time. How do they answer this? I genuinely want to know! Maybe they could say he’s not going to drown everyone again, it’s fireballs for us!
@survivingparadisepodcast2 жыл бұрын
They can't. But most modern day JW's don't study or even read the Bible, so they would look at you with a blank stare. Most believe he meant he wouldn't kill everyone with water again.....but if you read the verses, it doesn't say that, that is JW 'urban myth' stuff.....but you'll note none of their art of people getting killed at Armageddon features water. @@survivingparadisepodcast So, regarding Genesis 9:15, "and I will remember My covenant which is between Me and you and every living creature of all flesh; the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh." I'm guilty in the past of thinking this only promised not to flood us as a means of murder, but I could easily see how the reference to water was merely contextual because that was what had just been utilized. It could easily mean that he wouldn't destroy humanity again, period, but only refers to water because that was the soup du jour, as it were. Honestly, who would care if it was flood or not if the threat of being wiped out would simply occur by another means? That doesn't even make sense to be impressed with such a back-handed promise. I love ya my guy but this isn’t one of your strongest episodes if I may be so bold. For a lot of your earlier arguments/questions the JWs have what is in their minds simple answers: There were no carnivores before the flood so they could all eat straw. Either all antediluvian animals were in subjection to humans as they were to Adam and Eve or if Jehovah simply brought them forth to Noah by his Holy Spirit so Noah didn’t have to go marching anywhere. Jehovah makes sure they all survive, perhaps even not defecate or not have to eat, etc. it just takes some hand wavy god magic. But overall still a great episode and really love this podcast! Olive branches are not green after being under brackish water for a year. What happened to freshwater and saltwater animals? What did Noah, family and omnivotes eat after the flood? Everything is dead by salt water. It takes years before something edible grows again. How much drinking water did they have to take with them and keep it good for a year? Where did all that water go after the flood?

Near the end you mentioned about the estimated earth population. I don’t think that estimate from science and a Bible based reality are compatible. Because I would assume the estimate is derived from calculation of the current population and historical events to be used to find how many humans would be required to get to now during the flood time. The Bible history would state just Noah’s family produced the entire population of today. So you would throw out a calculation like one science would come up with by just doing time in reverse kinda thing. Unless there is some other way they came up with the population estimate

I always thought Noah's wife was Joan of Ark (?). I disagree on one point, when people believe patent anti scientific nonsense it is not something to be 'respected'. So Noah is married 500 years and no children - then all of a suddenly she pops out one black baby, one white baby and one Asian baby .... yeah I think Noah should possibly have had a little heart to heart chat at this point. Watchtower say 'well...the mountains were lower back then' but we know one mountain existed i.e Mt Ararat (which BTW is a volcanic mountain, 3 miles high, located a few miles from a tectonic plate edge, in one of the most unstable places on earth). The minimum volume of water to get to the top of this mountain on a totally smooth earth is 2.6 x 10^18 cu mtrs (yeah I calculated it) and that ignores the equatorial bulge - the water would have to fall at 0.8 million billion tonnes per second (40 days). This additional mass (or change of mass centre) & increase of the earth diameter would effect even the rotation and orbital speed of earth (conservation of momentum), and accelerating the water to rotational speed needs 5.3 x 10^26 Joules. The total amount of water on earth today would only get halfway up Ararat on a totally smooth earth, and that too ignores equatorial bulge. These are the absolute minimums - the reality would be far far worse. There is simply not enough water by any accounting, by a long margin. The pressure at the bottom of 3.2 miles of water is 505 bar and total darkness - with earth peripheral speed of 1,000 m.p.h creating immense turbulence, ripping up the abundant vegetation and forests and animal life of a tropical earth, mixed in with vast magma flows and volcanic activity associated with the buckling and crumpling of the earth's crust - creating an intensely toxic water mix (killing all life) and contaminating the air, even if the air remained breathable (no chance) then the rotting vegetation would release methane and run away climate change would ensue. The water 'canopy' - if the atmosphere were totally saturated all the way to space (Karmen line) it would contain 0.04% of the required water. If a 'canopy' of some sort were held in place by gravity, then the atmospheric pressure pre-flood would be 505 bar and the animals and humans would look TOTALLY different to survive and would die instantly on such a pressure change. Then you land 3 miles up - freezing temperature, altitude sickness, strewn with rotting vegetation and a dead and devastated earth. So you throw out two snails 3 miles up - and they head down the mountain and within a few years they get across the entire planet (somehow) and evolve in to the 60+ species (you could NEVER call these two snails 'sluggish' for sure) - the same is true of many animals - and yet about 100 years later you have Nimrod a 'mighty hunter', so what the hell was he hunting ? The animal population would be MINUTE and so 'inbred' that survival after the first couple of generations would be impossible. Just 400 years later Moses is wandering around Egypt with a vast and thriving natural world. Yeah right. The tower of Bable was maybe about 180 years later and at a stupendous rate of population increase and no deaths there would still be less than 30,000 adult men to do the building, and with an estimated 30,000 languages that means every 1.2 adults would speak a different language after Bable was 'disbanded' by God.............................................................. That's enough...... sorry, please forgive my rant.

Easy, there are plenty of animal species around the planet that have been introduced by humans, pest control (Little Owl from Italy now thrives in the UK), food (kangaroo meat is popular in Oz), and much more, penguins can swim (and have been GPS tagged and tracked) up to 5000 miles so not too difficult for them to make it far south; there are plenty of success stories and examples of how animals can be relocated to a new geographic area and do well in that country. This is only one way they could travel great distances.

I know what you're saying and believe me I'm with you as I am an atheist and don't believe the bible was written by God or believe there is a God for that matter. I see your point however JDubbs can do major gymnastics to make you think it was true like: Noah didn't need to find the animals, God directed the animals all over the earth to follow him to the ark years before it was even finished. The animals didn't need to poop, God took care of it. Noah didn't need to feed them, it was all in gods hands. The animals didn't attack each other because God made them feel at peace, and so on and so on. It seems like they can reason away anything you throw at them. That is why I have given up trying to wake up my family, I have come to except that they will always be in and that way they feel at ease with me too but also they don't try to preach with me. It's incredibly frustrating but it seems to work?

For Mary Laster. 2 Peter 2v5 tells us that Noah was a preacher of righteousness, in-somuch that when he and his sons were building this enormous ark, (437 ft long and 72 ft wide) they would have been questioned and ridiculed by the violent, lawless population at the time. Noah, having been told of the coming deluge, (Gen 6v17), would have warned them continually, but as it had never rained before, as Gen. 2v5-6, tells us, nobody would have believed him. Any that did, would have been welcome to join them. But there were none, all but the 8 perished. Just as today, very few take notice of Jehovah's Witnesses!
