On October 1, the Florida Keys reopened to the public and we were there to experience first hand the aftermath of hurricane Irma, not RVing this time, just a quick day trip. We also visited some of our favorite spots along the way, as well as our beloved Key West.
We travel aboard a 2015Winnebago Micro Minnie 1706FB travel trailer. You are more than welcome to tag along in our travels by subscribing to this channel.

As someone who grew up in the keys and spent most of my life in Florida it’s heartbreaking to see the damage. I moved away 2 years ago but the keys hold a special place in my heart. A lot of my friends lost homes and the hospital was destroyed. But thank you for showing the damage. A lot was damaged and during the storm I was terrified for all my friends. Thank you again for showing this.

I love key west and i drive every year from Connecticut to Key West and stay for a week. I was there 3 days before irma hit and i cant beleve all the damage. I didnt get down there this year (2018) because of other obligations that i couldnt ignore but i will be going down in the summer of 2019 for sure im def not missing it again. While im down there i will be scouting out places to live and work because i have always dreamed of living there since i was young and i am going to try and do it by the end of next year. im a single guy and have no kids and i have nothing tying me here in the cold north. this state (ct) is almost unlivable anymore because of the taxes. I think about being there everyday because it really is Paradise. Robert your videos on key west always bring back great memories I've had on the island and make me want to move down there even more and more than I already do. Keep up the great vids on this wonderfully magical area and anyone who hasnt been here should def come to the keys before they die it is kind of like a bucket list item or at least it should be. CHEERS Robert

Thank you Robert for showing us that Florida, post-Irma, is bouncing back again to its life and rhythm for what its well known for. The media does not indeed want to show its positive comeback, but predominately its negative impact.

Thank you for the informative video footage. I was so relieved to see that little Harriet's restaurant survived this hurricane. Harriet's is always a favorite spot to get a quick meal on the way to Key West. I hope all those Keys residents whose homes were totaled have enough insurance to re-build and can get hurricane-resistant homes built up on piers. Let's hope no one will again try to live full time in a trailer park or RV campground in the Keys -- that is just heartbreak waiting to happen.

Thank you for your video. I think that the locals may not be happy to be filmed in such a state but I feel it is important the "outside" know how hard hit the Keys were and that they still need help..Out of sight Out of mind, they dont want that! Lots of damage but lots of signs of clean up, which means visitors will see they will be able to return to the beautiful Keys once more and bring lots of business to the locals in the future. In the mean while, donate to help with clean up and bring services to the poorest of residents that are still suffering. xx.

So very sad ! The clean up will be long and hard. A lot of debris to clean away but give them time and the keys will bounce right back. Conchs are tough people they have ridden out many a storm. Good to see things getting back to normal. 😊 Thanks Robert

I just got back from the Keys today (this video is a month old) and while it is much better, there is still a lot of debris on the side of the road.

i cant imagine even thinking of this damage without seeing it!! ... my wife and I were at myrtle beach when Irma was happening.. didnt notice any changes til about our 3rd day... water temp had increased... i could actually look out at the water and literally saw a rise out of it.. the rip tides were impressive... its amazing what 2 or 3 ft rip tide that has been strengthened by a hurricane can do.. it was a great experience honestly.. but crazy!!!

Wow, I was raised in Key Largo, lived in Marathon too, pretty amazing. All the mangroves were cut down to build homes in areas. But sad thing is the mangroves protect the land

Seeing all the destruction just make me sick. I'm so happy we visited the Keys in 2016 because of your Keys video's! We stayed at Key Largo at a AirB&B house which was damaged very badly being on the Atlantic side. It will take a long time to erase the scars. It also reminds me of one of your vids where you show the memorial from the 1935? Hurricane. And thinking that the Keys have been lucky... :( Another superb video! ;0
