How nice it must have been to just casually talk in the midst of a convention. I really enjoyed the conversation with Stewart and his take on Cedar's struggles with their system. Thank you so much for this! I'm so often frustrated to see beekeepers purchase this invention from copycat manufacturers, I hope they'll think again once they really appreciate the effort and expense that goes into taking something from concept to fruition. Wishing you all the best in beekeeping!

Great Interview Guys! So good to get the back story. Hats off to your perseverance and dedication. Also the teamwork and the support from family and friends. Success was well deserved and what is particularly pleasing to see is that its not taken for granted, but instead is carefully nurtured.

Great video I attended the Congress can't believe I didnt spot you! Just N idea for a video maybe identifying honey flora would be cool to see some of the different species you get honey off and may even help some amateurs to identify some trees in their own areas to market their honey better ? Just a thought

John & Mark, Thanks for the interview video, really enjoyed it! The Invention of the Flow Hive got me back into keeping bees again in 2019 after about a 10 year hiatus. I now have 5 Flow Hives (with a 6th on the way ) and a couple of other hives for comb honey production. I really like the Flow Company's support for education and conservation efforts for pollinators. I feel very fortunate to have been invited by Flow to be one of their U.S. Ambassadors. Keep up the great video work! I always enjoy watching the new videos! Cheers!

It was neat to see you both at the show, perhaps a talk from Mark and John next time! :). Looking forward to any other vids you may have done. I am at the end of my first season and I was a kid in a candy store going to all the talks and seeing all the things on the tradeshow floor, I was really sad to learn that its not an annual event! Just a shame none of the talks were recorded to put on YT later on, so many experts speaking that it would have been great to have the knowledge out for mass consumption (and so I could catch the ones I missed)

Gidday John, finding the upshift(??) from videographed gay abandonment in warts and all adventures around your apiary to hopefull journalist more than stimulating entertainment, this cynic sees your choice of first outing quite informative in allowing Stu to detail that support for Cedar in developing the tool - fine example of Parent and Child functionality in extending the respect whilst mindfull of nurturing a newer version of yourself owning supplemented genes and so connected yet in sync tangential thinking songlines. Congratulations extended for yourself and your son in getting the biographical done and aired I look forward this debut you strut being a significant start to interviews with characters as Lindsay Bourke(Tas), Stan Taylor(WA), Stephen Heatley(KI-SA) ... and of course myself on our Hocks (FNQ) - each and others owning starkly different eccentricities. ...and never change the shirt! /tips hat/ Shad

This was great to watch! Well done on the Editing John. How many cameras did you have set up to do this out of interest? Love the story of the Flow hive, so cool to see people following their dreams! Flow hives have opened bee keeping up to a lot of folks who would never have started the journey. Mark was spot on, get more people keeping bees. We all start out thinking 1 hive will be fun. I often wonder how I ended up with so many given I am a sensible, rational thinking adult - well until I started playing with bees again! Stay safe all! 🦘👍😃🐝

I thought about the flow hive for several years and watched alot of videos on it you still have to open it up to see if it's all been capped. For the price I'll just take the supers off. Nice video thanks for sharing. ❤️🐝

Ya, a grand for not having to take supers off? Not worth it. Just fyi, there are clones available for around 250. Dunno about the build quality, but if a guy just wanted to test the waters..

It was never said you don’t have to do normal regular hives inspections. It was marketed by ease of harvesting the honey

My husband and I have toyed with the idea of becoming beekeepers for years. My inlaws had 2 hives on their property that someone else managed for them. Not quite well, mind you, since one hive absconded and the other died. During the shutdown in 2020 we took our vacation money and invested in a Flow hive. Absolutely fell in love with bees! We moved last year to a house on 12 acres and now have 15 beautiful thriving hives in our apiary. Between bees and chickens, we’re a bit obsessed! 😂 Really enjoy your videos. It’s fun to learn while having a good laugh!

Mites arrived in Newcastle and there are efforts happening to eradicate. So far so good, but still not over the hill yet.

At the moment the Dept. Ag. have identified nineteen sites - all connected. The source not yet identified. My worry is bees in wild hives, derelict buildings etc. Luckily it is mid winter, so bee traffic is minimal. 🇦🇺

They seem confident that they can be eradicated, as previous incursions were but as we can see from what happened in New Zealand and elsewhere, it can be a difficult pest to eradicate.

For the moment it's a small sacrifice if we can get varroa eradicated it will be well worth the fight. It only early days yet.

@@myme5615 It's winter, the main spreader are drones. If we can eradicate, we won't need to go through the treatments. Burn the hives, cause once it gets into the feral hives our whole world will change as Australian bee keepers. We have 2 months left to make a difference. I'm sure people will understand this!
@AwesomeFish12

@@myme5615 Too right. It's far too big of a risk to try to solve it slowly and carefully, it's a threat that has to be stamped out before it has the slightest chance to spread. I feel for all of the unfortunate people who have lost so much to this outbreak, but they will soon be able to start up again once this problem is solved.
