It doesn't matter, but you can't face the fact that the film was disapointing, it was full of bunch of random things, a lot of questions weren't answered like "Where is Garrets body?", "Garett was killed but where is he now?", " Why would Steve/William start to kill, what's the reason?", "Where tf is Mike's and Abbys dad?" And a lot more. Plot holes are just triggering, and I really felt like I am whatching fanmade full of game/books theorys without any game/book example. Can you imagine waiting for years for an adaptation to get this? AND WITH PRODUCER LIKE BLUMHOUSE?! Why they didn't do a horror? Who knows, but there was nothing from horror there exept from Guard being killed and those jerks being killed on screen. And Baloon boy meme. But almost all the scenes, like those with taxi, were used before, and it wasn't an original side of comedy. The best part of the movie was Matpat with his "but it's just a theory". And if you are good with Scott probably trolling us the whole time with advertising a horror movie and in the end he gave us a comedy, then go on, but I can say that I didn't like that movie.

Can we all just take a moment to say Mike is screwed. His Aunt who he was in a legal case with is dead at his house. His place of employment is gone, and employer dead, or dieing. Vanessa was nearly dead from the same place, and was dropped off at a hospital by Mike. There was no witness to what happened, and mike has a history with strong drugs. He's going to jail. Sequel better be named 5 nights at prison.

Personally I don’t think Mike Schmidt will be the main character in the next movie instead I think it will be Michael Afton which is what happens in the games. I did think at one point that Mike took his mums surname instead of his dads for whatever reason but that wouldn’t make sense since Vanessa did and it was Shelly(unless she’s married). In the games Schmidt is thought to be Mike Afton but for the movies I’m still a bit confused on the whole matter.

Recently, it's begun to lean more towards kids, and it's made a lot worse by how lots of KZbin channels and outside parties take the characters and names and just put into weird little animations and stuff.
@RR-on4sk
@RR-on4sk 9 ай бұрын
KZbin made it a thing for kids because all the let's play gamers played it, like they do many indie horror games, which yes kids watch, but they usually don't get attached to it like that. What made it an exception is the mascot type characters. Just got a chord with kids extra I guess. That's why if you notice there's some indie devs now purposely making horror games with "cute" characters (bendy, poppy, etc) hoping to strike gold. The first FNAF was actually nothing special, you sat in a room with monitors hitting buttons to block access to your room. Couldn't even walk around. The dev was just that lucky with these characters being a draw for a younger audience... However, he's far into now and the last FNAF game was totally made for kids on purpose. The main protagonist is even a kid vs the previous story lines about adults working at a run down pizza joint. TL;TR The dev caught lightening in a bottle, helped by how many kids watch KZbin let's players.

As a fan of the franchise, though not as hardcore as some people, I really liked the movie. You can see the live put into it and that it was made for FANS. They really said "dont care about general public, this is for fans" and it shows. MatPat and Cory's appearance brought me so much joy, just sad Mark had scheduling conflicts because that would have been the cherry on top. I can see why this is confusing for nonfans but the lore is confusing so that tracks lol. The anamatronics though, so happy they went with practical. And the blonde kid playing Golden Freddy, he did menecing soooo well. So often he just made me uneasy with just a slight change of facial expression, it was just in the eyes.

I find the mentality of not caring for the general public to be so confusing. Ideally you want people to become fans of what you're showing them. It's a tough line to walk and it's why video game adaptations were hard to nail, but it's not impossible. I can see little kids being interested in the franchise from watching the movie, but the film itself falls apart to any semblance of thought. If this were any other movie of any other thing, you'd feel robbed if the main antagonist of the movie was only ever in 3 scenes and with a fake name in two of them for no explanation given to you at any point, but because it's FNAF you gotta know who William Afton prior to feel any satisfaction from the film's third act.

@cyberdraws1770 Well it combines both game lore and book lore to create its own separate a.u (Alternate universe). That was already confirmed before the movie. And you can still go with a basic knowledge and understand. Tbh they made it quite easy. They still had the plot of William killing 5 kids, having them be animatronics. And the character Mike being the main character. And Cassidy/Golden Freddy being the vengeful one still is in there too. The only major change being Vanessa and Mike, with their familial roles being reversed. How it gets resolved with his sister using the drawings is directly pulled from the book. I think the way they pulled it off still works well a lot.

The fact that the movie doesn't follow the majorly accepted theories from the games, doesn't mean it's not lore accurate. Well it depends. Because after the entire killing spree of William Afton, the pizzeria practically shut-down and they weren't used again until they remade the animatronics for a new place which meant at one point, the corpses were taken out by someone (who knew of the incident aka Afton). This means that the children had probably possessed the endoskeletons of the animatronics which would explain why they're still able to roam without their corpses. Also their animatronic suits weren't entirely renewed but only rebuilding the exterior design which would explain why they still possessed the entire animatronic in general. So in conclusion, probably not. I know in the game lores people complained about a weird smell but not anything that would cause them to think that there were once decomposing bodies within the suit. But otherwise you could also take in the fact that the animatronics that Afton made were in particular to store the children in the stomach of the suits which is why no one ever found them but still it just doesn't make sense that corpses would literally be rotting inside and Henry (the guy who kinda remade everything after Afton "died") didn't realise such a horrible stench that would be growing. Hope this helped(although my memory is a bit rusty and I could be wrong in parts)

Afton removed the bodies from the suits after the pizzaria recieved complaints about the animatronics emitting a foul stench and leaking blood and mucus. The smell would start dissipating after the source of it was removed from the property (though bet they still had to febreze the shit out of that building for quite a while). There's also the fact that the place closed down after Afton's murder spree. Hardly anyone would be there to even see the animatronics at that point other than Vanessa, the hired security guards, and Afton himself. Not only that, but any person who entered the place would be killed and stuffed into spare suits by the animatronics, as evidenced by the attempted BNE by the backstabbing babysitter, her brother, and their cronies ending with all of them dead and stuffed into suits in the storage closet (the same one that Afton is now locked in).

For me, I was pretty disappointed in it bc this movie didnt capture the absolute dread of fending off uncanny animatronics trying to kill you in a dark, run down pizzeria. Honestly it wasnt even the in game jumpscares that were scary, but the tension leading up to them. The atmosphere was terrible in the movie, the jumpscares were random (like BB) and had very weak tension buildup, and any hopes of an actual scary FNAF movie was dashed by the fort scene. Eughhh. That being said MatPat and Cory def saved my experience in theater but other than that, it was a wack horror film. And it didn’t feel as disturbing as the game did.

I saw the movie pretty much right after watching the almost 9 hour fnaf lore video, so it was fun to watch for any Easter eggs and such. That said, while it’s a love letter to the fans (which isn’t a bad thing necessarily), it’s not that great for anyone else, given the sheer amount of backstory and trauma dumping. I mean, I get it, but like jeez it could’ve done with cutting out certain plotlines and either add in more scares or just…. better writing lol. I was pretty happy with the movie overall, but I can see why some people would be like “this movie is mid as hell”

As someone who followed the lore and also wanted and tried to see it in an objective view, I thought it was fun and the horror was campy. It was more sentimental and lighthearted than I expected and the story seemed more about the kids’ souls than “oooh, spooky robots oooOoOoH”, which is interesting. I think the critics and general public likely expected spooky robots rather than a story about the characters themselves.

WARNING, HEAVY SPOILERS!!!: At the later part of this review, mainly after 10:00 everything Alex says falls apart, they didn't kidnap Vanessa and Mike, Mike didn't invite the aunt to come and watch Abby for the night, but to adopt her and Freddy killed Abby's aunt. The children in the dream are the souls of the murdered children that posses the animatronics. And they want Abby to join them. They forgot that they were murdered, and listened to the interactions of their murder. Abby doesn't see them as animatronics, rather as the kids they used to be.

As a long-time fan since the release of the first game, I wanted to like this movie more than I did. To be honest, I almost feel peer-pressured to like it just seeing the hardcore defense for this movie everywhere among other long-time fans (Along with the slew of toxic positivity and negativity towards negativity when talking about the movie). I can’t give this movie without my bias anything more than a 6.5-7/10, and even that feels kind of generous. My issue isn’t with the movie being directed for fans or the idea of lore changes for the movies. I didn’t mind Vanessa’s inclusion or anything like that. The biggest flaw this movie had was the biggest issue I had with how this series had developed. It was bad as a movie because it was trying to appease two completely different demographics, with them being kids young enough for goosebump-esque campfire horror and teenagers/young adults who enjoy horror as a genre and wanted to take this franchise seriously as such), causing it to fail as a horror movie. The movie betrayed its roots as being genuine animatronic and paranormal horror that mimicked the 80’s animatronic establishments like Billy Bobs or Chuck-E-Cheese, which was something that made FNAF 1 really unique when it came out. FNAF *catering* to children was a major issue that the franchise developed over the years in my opinion that happened to snowball into the movie. It ruined FNAF’s ability to be able to take the horror/gore to where it needs to be in order to feel the gravity of things - like its original premise of animatronic horror. In my opinion, this undermines William Aftons evil and the brutality of what he did. FNAF was never “for kids” as a demographic, it was a franchise that just happened to be *accessible* to them because the games didn’t include much gore past its narrative implications and statements. Yes, the game tells us that the animatronics stuff our bodies into the suits to the point that our eyes pop out of the sockets, or that the suits leak blood and pus. but most of this stuff isn’t ever seen. No, I don’t hate kids. No, I’m also not saying the movie should have been a *complete* entrail-dragging gore-fest either. I *am* saying that it becoming something “for kids” instead of being something “for big sis/big bro” that the younger siblings are drawn to because of the allure of seeing something you weren’t supposed to see REALLY shows. It needed more horror and gore than what we got. I came away from seeing the movie twice very happy for Scott’s success and those who may enjoy it, but it also left me feeling bittersweet and disheartened with the direction we went in. I’ll always appreciate the franchise for bringing out my appreciation for animatronic horror, but I don’t think this franchise offers a place for those who like it for what it offers horror as a genre anymore going forward. That being said, I have nothing against the other long-time FNAF fans who liked the movie. We just liked FNAF for different reasons and these reasons aren't really co-existing well outside of the originals or FNAF-fan games that try to add emphasis to the horror like FNAF + or The Joy Of Creation.

I remember when it first started because FNAF offered psycological horror when jump scares dominated that time. It's the reason why I liked it so much back than. I agree that they didn't go far enough with the horror elements as they could have, probably because you needed a MC to tell the story and 1st POV will always feel more intense than watching someone else on screen. What I really love however is the cinematography and sound design (I still missed the Carmen soundtrack from the trailer). Also, using "old school" tools like puppetry and real life models instead of doing everything with CGI was a welcomed change. Long story short: story was meh, could do more (classic) horror like the first games but visual appealing. A good movie for a nice evening with friends but nothing ground breaking
@AnonDudeBro
@AnonDudeBro 11 ай бұрын
@@nekokaitou4027 I agree with you! I will also say that the animatronics and the art that went into making them and the design of the pizzeria (other than the missing office doors) were overwhelmingly the best part of the movie! That being said, I have my major reservations from a horror perspective with them being *WAY* too fluid in their expressions, for example when they would always squint their eyes when agitated or angry. It made them so much less scary! This is also a nitpick, but I always wish they just did the thing at some point in the movie where their eye sockets became black and their eyes were beady-white dots, It was just something I really liked. I’ll take up for the movie with the spring-lock design/crushing scene regarding the SpringBonnie costume though. I get that it probably was pretty disappointing compared to the games, but I don’t think there was a more realistic way to implement that from a engineering perspective. I think the issue would have been solved if William sounded like he was in more pain with his ribs actually snapping. It was rushed, but I’ll defend how the spring-lock worked.

This feels like they didn’t expect to get enough sequels to fill out the story… because you’re right about them cramming a bunch of games, novels, etc into one movie. The story wasn’t bad from game to game, but as one movie, that’s definitely overkill

It isn't based off of multiple games, its essentially a FNAF spinoff. Some of the story and Sets maybe but the general idea is a spinoff of FNAF one. The only instance of "multiple games" is balloon boy, and vanessa, thats barely anything. Also, sequels are apparently planned.

Dude didn't even understand fnaf anything. But still watched the movie. Example: we wanted more gore But he was surprised to See a little gore comparison to other fnaf gore. He didn't even know about the springlock that happed he just thought that they locked William afton in a room. He's reaction was very similar to the critics. Also he didn't even know the movie was a thriller not a horror. I'm not trying to hate but know your stuff before rating. Some the comments just show their reaction to the movie.(maybe just here to see the movie for free) TBH I don't watch this guy. But most of his viewers seem to be kids laughing at the animated scenes that are ment to be funny.

One problem I have with this is that from a filmmaking standpoint this movie falls flat SO HARD. Because we don't really know about William Afton/Spring Bonnie the big reveal does not hit as hard as it was intended. Also I'm not surprised if people thought it made no sense. If we had more insight into his backstory, his motives or him actually kidnapping the kids it would've made him seem more evil and it would've been more impactful at the end, obviously without his identity being revealed. Feel like this movie should've either been longer and more focus on William or been turned into a series. Williams shenanigans being explained through exposition just didn't work. From someone who's been a FNaF fan since it's release, I loved all the Easter eggs and details to the lore. From a filmmaking standpoint, it was not a good movie at all.

I just came back from watching Five Nights at Freddy's in the movie theater, and trust me when I say this. I WAS SO DISAPPOINTED ☹️, I really thought that maybe just maybe this movie would have a chance, BUT NO!! The basic story and plot was messy and confusing, the main characters from the first SIX games were not accurate, the lore and canon of the games was butchered beyond belief, the"plot twists"were not even twists, and overall it was not scary. As a hardcore FNAF fan, this was like The Phantom Menace of FNAF. The only good things I got from this movie was the restaurant, the animatronics, the MatPat & CoryxKenshin cameos, and the end credits song. But as someone who likes to study film, those aspects alone are not gonna save your movie. So in conclusion, it finally came and it didn't deliver, 3/10.😕 P.S I know that hardcore FNAF fans can do better, I would love to see film students have their own take on Five Nights at Freddy's, because companies who have millions of dollars can't seem to do it right.🤦

Okay but think about this: in the first game we got little backstory other than some posters here and there. This is the first movie of more coming out, and in my opinion, it was fantastic! I get what the people who didn’t particularly like this movie are saying but I feel like they’re missing so much and expecting it to be like the games too much. This is a movie outside of the game universe set years after all the events took place with a plethora of characters from different games to add inclusion for those who genuinely love the series. It’s great, 11/10, my favorite movie out there

Super important to realize that this movie is more of a thriller and less of a straight-up horror movie. They could have made it rated R and gone all out with the gore, but there are plenty of young/teenage fans that also want to see the movie, so they decided to make it PG-13 instead to allow them to have access to it and not completely traumatize them. Hence the emphasis on the story and the tension with more implied kills instead of onscreen ones.

@@baneq105 Yep. I was thinking that actually seeing the gory side of this story would be more traumatizing for the younger viewers than just hearing about it and seeing the 8-bit version we get in the games. Especially the Springtrap death scene from FNAF 3. IMO it was a good call to change the context of that scene to make it slower and less gory than the one in the games, because actually showing all that blood and flesh-tearing they describe in the books would be a lot. Plus, making it rated R might have turned the movie into a cheap gorefest instead of a proper story that pays respect to the original games.

Fnaf has never been that gory and it was going to be very story heavy no matter what rating it got. The games have very deep lore, you can’t make a Fnaf movie without focusing on it a lot. Plus a large portion of the fans are on the younger side so it makes sense the PG - 13 rating.

There's a few things that Alex gets wrong here: 1. The aunt wants Abby so she can get money from the state 2. Mike doesn't take the pills because he has trouble falling asleep, he takes them to keep having that same dream. 3. Mike and Vanessa weren't kidnapped, they snuck in and Vanessa took him into a bunker. 4. William wasn't only locked in a closet, the springlocks in his suit went off, so he was being slowly crushed and impaled and left to die in the closet.

I honestly really wished they did it like the horror movie origin stories like Michael Meyers or Leatherface. There’s so much back story to William Afton and what drove him to do it and his descent into madness until he was so far gone he wasn’t even human anymore and just about anybody who was a part of his life suffered for it. At least then the whole “the movie was meant for the fans” would feel more like it since it’s got a majority of the pieces from the game series and ties it all together to tell the big story. Also just scrap the whole Vanessa nonsense, he had PLENTY of children to pick from that already came with their own trauma packages.
