"The Foggy Dew"- Irish Rebel Song (Rare Version)

"Foggy Dew" is the name of several Irish ballads, and of an Irish lament. The song chronicles the Easter Rising of 1916, and encourages Irishmen to fight for the cause of Ireland, rather than for the British Empire, as so many young men were doing in World War I.

I think more war/patriotic/folk songs ought to be sung like this in general, this style is about as authentic as it can get, no great and coordinated instrumentals nor even that much rehearsal, just guys singing with real emotion

Ah, Luke! (Lukie, my dad calls him with great fondness. He got to see him in concert at least once). Every song I hear him sing is the best version of it. Talk about talent! Had he been born somewhere else he could’ve been a virtuoso in the opera, and it would have been glorious. (Not saying that would be better, just that his voice, the tone, the strength of it is that remarkable.)

I first heard this being sung by various rock artists, and I fell in love with the song. But this version, I think I love more, because it's just one or two guys singing with a deep passion that needs no extra instruments to back it up. The rock versions I absolutely still jam out to, but this one strikes my soul and sends a chill through my spine. I can't really describe it as well as I want to, but I've never been that good at crafting my words.

obviously, considering the foundation of todays govt and state, is the counterrevolutionary Irish Free State, that worked to undo the work of thr Irish Republic which the heroes of 1916 gave their lives for.

The term "British" didn't come into ​existence until the late 1600s which applies that even during the conquest of Ireland by England no one on the island of Briton had classed themselves as being British and the British Isle's didn't come into existence until the early 1800s which the majority of the people on the island of Ireland had and still do very much reject the term because it's a political term of one cultures identity being forced upon another cultures identity. Around 90% of the population from top to bottom of the island reject it, even the government rejects it not to mention the British media including the British government no longer use the term they instead replaced it with "these isle's" If it's anything it's the "Celtic Isle's" seeing as 5 out of the 6 cultures are Celtic Cultures.
